FIFTEEN YEARS.

This is a picture of Agent Red in the starting stages of Wine Spies. And now, we stare in amazement as pallets of wine disappear out the door every day. 🍷

You guys are amazing. Every one of you. From the very bottom of our hearts and glasses, thank you for the support - whether you just found us yesterday, or in 2007, we hope you’ll remain with us for years to come. We sure will be here for you. ❤️

By now you know we’re kicking off a four-day-long blitzkrieg of eye-popping deals to celebrate. It’s only fitting to launch with this - an all-time favorite, most purchased, most re-purchased Cabernet EVER. This time from the epic 2007 vintage, the year that also gave birth to Wine Spies. 🤯

An IMMENSE wine from all angles. Rated 94 big points by The Tasting Panel. A MASSIVE discount per bottle if there even IS a price to put on a long sold-out library stash unearthed exclusively for you, and us to celebrate a decade and a half with. Drinks like a champ today, and for years to come. 💪

It's only fitting that on National Wine Day we announce our 15th year anniversary celebration.

Starting Tuesday May 31st - Friday June 3rd, join us for a four-day-long gangnam style blitzkreig of outstanding offers. We’ve been downing espresso like candy. The recycling is overflowing with Red Bull. We’ve gone crosseyed from staring at the computer screen day and night.

But it’s all worth it.

YOU are worth it.

More details to come...

AND WE'RE BACK! 😍🍷 ⠀

That's right, we have another of our “CLASSIFIED” offers. For reasons that will become clear, these wines are so good, so in demand, and so exclusive, they must remain hidden behind a cloak of secrecy. 🤫🕵️ ⠀

Looking for some big scores? Well, 4 top critics are in the 95-97 range. For a past vintage Robert Parker said that it “tastes like an over-sized, phenomenal Cheval Blanc” and we think that’s especially true with this one, the highest-rated example of this single-vineyard blend ever. ⠀

Now, what are you waiting for?! Get yourself a classified bottle today. And do it quickly because the last classified wine we sold in January sold out in about 38 minutes. 👀 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Eponymous again?! That's right baby! 🤪🍷 ⠀

Last year we brought you the 95-point 2017 vintage of this wine. And it was one of our Top-10 Cabernet deals of the year. Today we’re back with the 2018 vintage and it’s even better. 😍 ⠀

Robert Pepi sold his renowned family winery in 1994. As part of the deal, they couldn’t use the Pepi name on any future wines. So, with the unstoppable desire to make more wine, he came up with the “Eponymous” moniker. It’s a cheeky nod to “one who is unable to use his family name on his own bottle of wine” as he says. With a chip on his shoulder, Pepi went all in to make this wine. It’s sourced from four vineyards, with Mt. Veeder accounting for HALF the fruit and Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak, and Coombsville making up the rest. So, it’s essentially a mountain Cab! ⠀

Only 15 barrels were made. We got what we could, but you already know what will happen… 🤑🙌 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Tasting Profile: ⠀
LOOK: So inky and dark ruby in the heart, darker than a moonless midnight ⠀
SMELL: Pure class, chock-full of dark black cherries, cassis, blackberry jam ⠀
TASTE: Creamy vanilla bean, rosemary, saddle leather, and a touch of spice ⠀
FINISH: Very long and silky smooth, elegant while lush and powerfully built ⠀
PAIRING: Fire up the grill to sear your favorite cut of meat just the way you like it ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

"Like a VIRGEN, touched for the very first time" 😉🍷 ⠀

If you like Pinot Noir, with an open mind… “Definitely an estate to follow closely.” says the Wine Advocate. And we did! Swept off our feet dear Operatives, we LOVE these wines. We're saying THESE because this red has a white sister too, but there was even less of it, so you’ll find it in the Store. ⠀

Behold. A red that can easily compete with Grand Cru Burgundy. One that has endless purity, intensity, and complexity. We guarantee this will become one of your top wine discoveries... at least in 2022. Trust us. 😍🙌 ⠀

Don’t miss out on this highly limited tiny production (just 4 barrels made!) Wine Spies exclusive! 💫🍇 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Tasting Profile: ⠀
LOOK: A striking bright ruby with brilliant purple accents on the rim ⠀
SMELL: Very perfumy with crushed wild red berries, blueberry, currant, exotic spices, minerality ⠀
TASTE: Floral with violets, darker cherries, a vibrancy that coats the velvety tannins underneath ⠀
FINISH: Unique and long, with seriousness, distinctly Galician, thanks to the outstanding terroir ⠀
PAIRING: This would be a joy to pair with local cheeses and charcuterie, or spicy seafood tapas ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

HEAR YE HEAR YE! 🗣️💥 ⠀

Today marks an exciting Wine Spies first! Introducing the first of our “CLASSIFIED” tier of offers. For reasons that will become clear, these wines are so good, so in demand, and so exclusive, that they must remain hidden behind a cloak of secrecy. 🤐🍷 ⠀

Although we can’t disclose the name of this wine, we can tell you a few key facts: ⠀
- The winemaker is Thomas Rivers Brown! AKA the MAN, has a track record like no other, with who knows how many 100-point wines under his belt. ⠀
- Previous scores for this wine were all in the mid to upper 90s for 2018, 2016, and 2015 vintages. ⠀
- This was rated “outstanding” by at least one revered critic, finding “notable textural richness that runs through all these wines... beautifully... expressive.” ⠀
- Normally only offered via allocation or seen on lists like The French Laundry.
- Currently priced at $200 on the producer’s site and unavailable for purchase. ⠀

What Ferris Bueller said about that ‘61 Ferrari applies here: “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up”. 😍🙌 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Back by popular demand! 💥 ⠀

Here’s your ticket into the wonderful winemaking world of Nils Venge - aka America’s first 100-point winemaker and the man behind HUNDREDS of amazing wines over the decades. 😍🍷 ⠀

Nils has been a dominant FORCE in the wine industry for four decades now. He helped propel Charles Krug, Mount Eden, Sterling, Saddleback, and Groth into the forefront of California’s wine scene. Oh, and he crafted Groth’s 1985 100-point Cabernet – the first-ever perfect scoring CA wine. Not too shabby. He continued to pursue his passion on his Cougar’s Leap project, making unbelievably affordable high-quality wines from the Lake County outpost. The rugged, volcanic obsidian soil and warm temps make a perfect breeding ground for the head-trained red varietals he focuses on. ⠀

Well, what are you waiting for?! 🤯🏆 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Tasting Profile: ⠀
LOOK: Pitch black to the deep core, shadowless as a cougar purring on a black rock in the middle of a moonless night ⠀
SMELL: Tons of brambly blackberry, red currant, dried figs, freshly laid tar, smoked meat, to***co, and spices rise to the surface ⠀
TASTE: You get the round, ripe, and jammy personality from the Petite and Zin and the inky, meaty side of Tempranillo and Cab ⠀
FINISH: Massive, meaty, and rugged to the core with dusty, fine-grained tannins, shockingly long for its humble category ⠀
PAIRING: If you’re grilling this summer (or smoking on the Traeger) you need a bottle (more like a case) of this around… ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
