Crush It Wine Education

Crush It Wine Education Providing fun and educational classes to all levels of wine lover. Cheers! And what better place to do that than the heart of Santa Barbara wine country?

As two Santa Barbara natives we both love and have worked in a number of different facets of the Santa Barbara wine industry. But through out our time here we noticed that something was missing, there were very limited options for people who wanted to know more about wine. As interest in wine and wine tasting continues to grow we want to make sure that people have access to fun and educational courses at every level.

LIVE CLASS: January 23, 2025!
We started our Wine Society 3 years ago, and we have taken our members all over the world and highlighted some of the best regions the United States has to offer. As two Santa Barbara natives we were lucky to grow up with one of the most unique wine areas in the world right in our backyard. Santa Barbara County boasts a wide variety of micro-climates that grow an amazing selection of wines. It has everything, from the cool Sta. Rita Hills growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to the hot and dry reaches of Happy Canyon growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. In this class we will hand select 3 bottles that highlight what makes this region so special and demonstrate why this should be everyone's first choice to visit in California.

Class price includes 3 bottles of wine, live virtual class, recording of the class available the next day and handmade class materials.

The Basque Country wine region is an autonomous community in northern Spain. This particular area of the wine world is not only beautiful, but has a culture as unique as the varieties of wine they produce. We can’t wait to taste with you and teach you about what makes this region special. We have 3 different wines from each of 3 different wine regions in Basque. Be prepared for mind boggling spellings, crisp and refreshing wines, and some new dishes to put in your arsenal for your next dinner party.

Hi wine friends, it's been a little while since we re-introduced ourselves around here.

If you don't know, or you forgot because there is a lot going on in the world of the internet we're Julie and Allie and we're the owners of Crush It Wine Education.

Crush It has a few different fun things going on

👉 We've got an online wine shop with wines specifically curated by us from all over the world. We focus on small producers, women winemakers and sustainable growers. Not only are all the wines in our shop delicious, they're also super affordable and all come with info cards that breaks everything down for you so you really know what you're drinking.

👉 We've got a Wine Society which is basically just a fun way of saying an online wine club that ships you three bottles 6 times a year, each around a different theme. Each bundle of wines also comes with a virtual class, custom class materials and of course your wine society discount

👉 We have a podcast called CrushCast and in each episode we breakdown a different wine region, style or variety. We give you all the info that you need but then we also tell you a story around that topic too so you can learn more about the people and history behind these wines.

We've also got some other fun things like private tastings, blending parties, event buying services and some more fun options in the works.

Basically, we're wine nerds and we want to hang out with you and talk about wine. We've built our business to do just that and while we're still a small operation (it's really just the two of us!) but we're super excited to be hanging out with you.

So do us a favor, say hi, let us know what else you want to know about us, or better yet let us know what else you want to see from us!

Cheers!

Our latest podcast episode is out today!! We are going to take you all to the little-known wine regions throughout Mexico.

Julie has a bottle of wine from one of the southernmost wine regions in the Northern Hemisphere.

Allie gives us insight into the history of winemaking in Mexico that started back in the 1500s.

We finish up our Pod by answering the question, "Why is it so hard to find Mexican Wine outside of Mexico?" Let's just say it is complicated. Move over beer and tequila, we are here for the Mexican wine.

We're already gearing up for our next class and this time we're taking a little trip to Mexico. Specifically we're focusing on the Valle De Guadalupe and as we get everything ready we're getting more and more excited to talk to you guys about this region.

Mexico is not synonymous with wine, but some have gone as far as dubbing Valle de Guadalupe the “Napa Valley of Mexico.” One of the reasons it isn’t well known for wine is that their production is fairly low and the wines are not widely distributed outside of Mexico.

We have done all of the work for you and found 3 wines that represent the best qualities of Valle de Guadalupe and just how excellent this underrepresented wine region is in the world. Join us to discover just what makes this region so great, and why this should be at the top of your list for your next wine trip.

This includes class includes 3 bottles of wine, a live zoom class, and all the custom class materials.

It's gonna be a fun one, and we would love for you to join us! Click the link below to grab your spot now before it fills up!

It is summer and what better way to escape than to do a little island hopping in the Mediterranean?

We are exploring the isle of Corsica on this weeks podcast, also known as l'Île de Beauté, or Beautiful Island.

Allie grabbed a tasty red wine from a land dominated by rosé. Julie gives you a list of (very hard to pronounce) varieties and their diverse origins.

Then we tackle the argument, who does this island really belong to? Find out just what lengths people have gone to fight for this unique and beautiful place.

Find yourself a nice bottle of Corsican wine, head to the link below to listen and sip along with us. Cheers!

On this week's podcast we're talking about our favorite summer sipper, Vinho Verde.

Maybe you've tried this light, bright, slightly spritzy wine before but did you know that not all Vinho Verde is white? Or that the spritz is added in at the last minute and not all Vinho Verde wines have it?

In this episode Julie pours one of our favorites from our shop. Allie gives you all the details about how this 'green' wine region has many delicious options. And we end with the legendary Kingdom of Tartessos, and the Celtic connection to ancient Portugal.

Grab a glass of your favorite wine and join us. You can click the link below to start listening now!

On the podcast this week we're discussing all things Pinot Grigio. Or is it Pinot Gris?

We're breaking down the difference and the names this week and so much more.

And if you think Pinot Grigio has a bad reputation, has no flavor or is just something your Grandma wants to drink, think again. This reputation is real, just this past weekend I was at a wine tasting event and someone didn't want to taste a Pinot Gris for this exact reason. Turns out that Pinot Gris was one of my favorite wines in the line up!

We'll break down why this bad reputation exists and why you should absolutely still seek out this wine today.

Hey Lovely Listeners! We thought we would give you all a sneak peek into what makes our Patreon a boozy good time. We pop bottles, talk pop culture, and dive into pretty much any story that involves wine and wine culture and this episode is no exception.

In this still timely episode from August of 2022 we discuss branded wine, English sparkling and how climate change is affecting the wine industry. Surprisingly it's got its bad sides and it's good sides.

As always, grab a glass of something fun and sip along with us. You can click the link below to start listening now.

Have you guys tried Verdelho before? It's a dry, medium acid white wine and we think it's the perfect option as we move into the summer season. So let's break it down a little and see if this is a wine for you.

🍇Where's It From / Why Haven't I Heard of It?

Verdelho is originally from Portugal and while it is used in some white blend there it is actually most famous for its use in the blend of Madeira. Madeira is a fortified wine made on the Portuguese Madeira Islands off the coast of Africa.

🍇Enter Australia

Outside of Portugal and fortified wines Verdelho is actually not grown many other places with Australia being the big exception. In fact at one point it was Australia's most planted white grape before Chardonnay topped the charts.

🍇What's it Taste Like?

Verdelho is light in body and has medium to high acidity and can be made into both dry and sweet varieties (see Madeira). Common tasting notes are lemon, citrus and pear along with Gooseberry, pineapple, ginger, honeydew, and brazil nut.

🍇What should I Pair It With?

Verdelho is great to sip all on it's own but it can also pair well with a range of dishes from oysters to fresh salads, fish tacos or spanish tapas, especially those that incorporate smoked ham.

🍇Where Can I Grab a Bottle to Try for Myself?

We have a favorite in our shop right now from the Margaret region of Western Australia. We're a little bit obsessed with how good this wine is and we definitely think you should try it.

👉 Have you tried Verdelho wines? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! And if you want to try one for yourself click the link below to check out our wine shop.
