Dear Friends,
With such devastation everywhere, it's hard to comprehend what we're all seeing and the sheer extent of the destruction.
At Julienne today-reminded me how it was after 9/11. Quiet and somber - no music or phones as Internet is still down- but a real place of gathering. People came in not only for food, but to commiserate, share videos and photos, talk, praise the first responders and talk about their neighbors and neighborhoods- many now completely gone. I can't tell you how many hugs I gave to people who either lost their home or close to it.
We delivered 65 lunch boxes and water to the first responders in Altadena then another lunch for 70 for evacuees at All Saints Church. I still have 4 key employees out due to evacuation. Even those whose homes are still standing talk about the soot, ash, smoke - and it will likely be months before they can actually move back "home"- but is it home with entire neighborhoods smoldering and burned out?!
I am very lucky to still have my home as is.
I hope everyone can contribute a talent, time, supplies or money to those less fortunate. At Julienne, we can offer comfort food and plenty of hugs!!
It is certainly a long and tedious road ahead to rebuild LA and our communities-
But light always finds a crack to shine through, yes? 🙏❤️
