Occupational therapy can often benefit children who have been diagnosed with autism, sensory processing disorder, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, brachial plexus, autism spectrum, developmental delays, head injuries, and most genetic
syndromes. Depending on the childs needs therapy focuses on improving skills such as sensory integration, daily living activities (dressing, feeding, hygiene, toileting, and play), gross and fine motor coordination and strengthening, school skills, writing, focusing attention, transitioning between activities, and increasing self-esteem. Evaluations include parent interview, clinical observations, and standardized assessments. Susan is now certified in Ayres Sensory Integration and therefore is able to administer the SIPT, the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. The SIPT is considered "The Gold Standard" of tests.
