"Gas Price Drop Expected to Continue Through Winter"

Average retail gasoline prices in Arkansas have fallen more than 2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.45 a gallon with an expected price of $2 a gallon by fall.
Congress continues to debate whether to raise the federal gas tax rate least 15 cents a gallon to support an insolvent Highway Trust Fund. The tax has not been raised in 22 years.
U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, said in an emailed statement Monday that he “understands there are fundamental flaws in the way we fund our highways and — including that the gas tax was not indexed for inflation when it was set in the 1970s and raised in the 1990s — and continues to believe it is essential to return solvency and dependability to the Highway Trust Fund.” …
