Shoutout to Hector Juarez, the Produce Manager at our Caldwell Store, for participating in Melissa's Produce cooking contest! Hector wowed everyone with his creation, "The Texas Hatchman Vegan Burger," ๐๐ฑ, showcasing his passion for plant-based cooking and creativity in the kitchen.
"The Texas Hatchman Vegan Burger features completely vegan patties made from a variety of recipes Iโve developed over the past few years. I only use plant-based ingredients, including chickpeas, tofu, black beans, mushrooms, and many other fresh vegetables. To create the cheese, I used carrots and potatoes. I paired the dish with homemade potato fries, onion rings, fried sliced mushrooms, and fried breaded Hatch skins. I only used three pieces of real bacon for my wife.
It was time-consuming. I spent six hours preparing everything from scratch, including fresh pico and guacamole. I brought burgers for my coworkers to try, as they sample any new recipes I come up with. It was a lot of fun, and Iโm already thinking about new ideas for next year. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I come up with ideas and text it to myself so I donโt forget," said Hector.
