2022 G.D. Vajra Langhe Rosso on sale $18

A blend of three of Piedmont’s greatest grapes: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. It is intense and rich on the nose with aromas of cherries, berries and red fruits and a light note of smoky meat in the background. Dark fruit flavors lift through the soft finish.
Aldo Vajra founded the winery with his wife in the 1960’s. Today it is run by him along with his children Giuseppe, Isidoro, and Francesca. Organic since 1971 simply because that is the way they have always farmed.

Blue Rock Winery was first settled by Italians who worked at the Italian-Swiss Colony winery just down the road. The original stone house was once Villa Maria winery, which closed its doors during the Prohibition Era. Acquired by Kenny and Cheryl Kahn in 1987, the Estate maintains much of its old world character. It even maintains its original olive trees that are now over 140 years old.
Blue Rock’s commitment is to produce vintages true to their European roots. Wines on the estate are crafted with the type of knowledge and modern finesse that only come with experience.

Found a cool new grape. Tempranillo is the Spanish red grape used in wines from Rioja. Like Pinot and Grenache, there exists a Noir and a Blanc, cousins kind of.
Discovered in the 1980's but only in use since 2007, the Tempranillo Blanco is used to produce this fresh, vibrant White Rioja. We are thrilled with this first experience with a new variety.
Nivarius Rioja Blanco is regular $27, and currently on sale for $22.

Well, we found one!!!

The most prized (if not the most powerful) expression of the wines of Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella wines are famously robust, red wines made in the Veneto. Amarone della Valpolicella is an intensely flavored dry red wine made from dried (passito) grapes. It is made in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, and is one of the region's most prestigious red wines.
There are many different styles of Amarone. This is in the classic style, not too overbearing with fruitiness.

"The Ca’ Vendri Amarone from Cantina Ville di Antanè tastes of red cherry with notes of black cherry emerging through the finish. The nose is earthy and full of cherry, plum, raspberry and spice notes."

2019 SILVER OAK ALEXANDER VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Here comes the long awaited release of the 2019 vintage of Silver Oak's Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Composition: The wine is composed of 95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot and 0.4% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes (Winery): "The 2019 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, iris, vanilla and clove. Ruby in color, this elegant wine has great acidity and lift on the mid-palate. Black currant and warm baking spices linger with a deep and fruity finish. It will provide drinking pleasure through 2047 given proper cellaring."

A Tuscan Legend!

Castello of Terriccio represents one of the largest winery estates in Tuscany, extending along the northern border of the Tuscan region of Maremma near Bolgheri.
First produced in 1993, this is the estate's flagship wine. It takes its name from a local hill where tradition says wolves have been seen. “Lupi” meaning wolves and “Aia”- area.
The grapes used for Lupicaia are Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot. Each variety is aged separately in oak barrique(225lt.) and larger tonneaux (500lt.) for about 22 months, then blended and stored for a further period in bottles before sale. It is a big wine, full-bodied, with complex flavorings.
The vineyards are positioned so that the sea acts as a mirror and therefore light comes as a reflection, lasting longer than direct rays of the sun. The soils provide mineral elements, including iron and copper mixed, a balanced interaction of sands, silt and clay.
In this way it was possible to obtain a natural richness and concentration of the wines, a great structure accompanied at the same time by a particular softness, and with a remarkable aging capacity.
