Job Title: Wine/Beer Shop and Lounge Associate (Part Time)
Job Overview:
The Wine Alley is looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to help us in our fun, small wine & beer shop and lounge. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain a welcoming and organized environment. As the Wine/Beer Shop and Lounge Associate, you will be responsible for selling products to customers, from time to time lead wine tastings, serving wines in the lounge, and ensuring that both the shop and lounge areas remain clean, organized, and inviting. Hours are negotiable but will mainly be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Customer Service & Wine Sales:
*Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner.
*Assist customers in selecting wines & beer based on their preferences and provide recommendations.
*Promote wine & beer sales and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
*Use knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and tasting notes, to educate customers and enhance their shopping experience. There are materials in the shop to assist with this.
2) Wine & Beer Lounge Service:
*Pour and serve wine & beer to customers seated in the lounge area, offering a memorable and personalized experience.
*Explain the characteristics of wines being served and engage with customers to enhance their wine tasting experience.
*Monitor customers' needs and ensure their comfort throughout their visit.
3) Wine Tastings:
*Lead wine tasting events, providing insight into the wines being featured.
*Educate guests about wine pairing, tasting techniques, and the history behind the wines.
*Manage the flow of the event, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.
4) Store Management & Organization:
*Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked shop and lounge area.
*Keep track of inventory, restock shelves, and ensure that all products are properly labeled and displayed.
*Manage store opening and closing procedures, including securing the premises.
*Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, particularly in relation to alcohol service.
Qualifications:
*Prior experience in retail, hospitality, or wine sales preferred.
*Knowledge of wines, wine regions, tasting techniques, and pairings.
*Outstanding customer service skills.
*Ability to work independently and take initiative in taking care of the shop.
*Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
*Ability to lift and move boxes of wine (up to 40 lbs).
*Must be of legal drinking age and have knowledge of responsible alcohol service.
*Food Handling Permit & MAST preferred. Can be obtained upon hire.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a small wine & beer shop and lounge with an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The employee will interact with customers in both a retail and hospitality setting, ensuring that all aspects of the store are running efficiently.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $20/hr plus tips.
Location: Renton, WA (Fairwood neighborhood)
