Celebrate Caviar Day in style with a classic pairing that never goes out of style – Champagne and Caviar! 🥂✨ Why do these two luxury items make the perfect match? The effervescence of Champagne enhances the delicate, briny flavors of Caviar, creating a sublime taste experience. The crisp bubbles cleanse the palate, ensuring every bite of Caviar is as exquisite as the first. We know that to some, Caviar can be intimidating. So, in the carousel, we are providing some helpful shopping tips. When it comes to delicious pairings, we think it's best to ditch the pretension and focus on the flavor! While you're at the store, pick up some Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips to enjoy as a salty, crunchy vehicle for your Caviar.

For this special pairing, we recommend the exquisite J. Charpentier Tradition Brut Champagne, available in our wine shop. Its fine bubbles and balanced notes of citrus and brioche are the perfect complement to caviar's luxurious taste. The history of the family makes it all the more charming.

These Reno locations provide excellent options to find high-quality caviar for your Champagne pairing:
·Sierra Gold Seafood
·Whole Foods Market
·Sprouts Farmers Market
·Bazaar European Deli & Cafe

Weekend Special: Frank Family Chardonnay $28 a bottle. We're offering a limited quantity of this tried and true favorite at a special price through today (Sunday). This wine, brimming with Meyer lemon, yellow apple, and salted butterscotch notes, is an easy accompaniment to Summer get-togethers and grilled dinners.

We're also sharing Frank Family's recipe for honey butter. This four-ingredient spread will instantly elevate your Summer grilling classics; from fried chicken and cornbread to corn on the cob and a brushed finish on grilled pork chops. This salty-sweet recipe is easy to whip up and can be doubled to feed a crowd. Add a final drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of sea salt when serving; it will look as good as it tastes.

The beautiful notes of honeycomb, vanilla bean, and warm spices found in Frank Family’s Chardonnay seamlessly mirror this honey butter's flavors and make for the perfect pairing.

Maybe we're trying to butter you up...😉

It's Coq au Vin Day (oui, this French dish has its own day), and we'll seize any excuse to celebrate Pinot Noir and great food and wine pairings! We're channeling our inner Julia Childs, taking a page from Ina Garten and recalling the quote from W.C. Fields, “I cook with wine. Sometimes, I even add it to the food.”

We're suggesting two bottles of Pinot Noir from our shop: one French and one from California, which honors French traditions. Both would pair excellently with the Coq au Vin recipe we've shared. We hope this combination brings a certain joie de vivre into your life!

🍷 Domaine Jacques Girardin Santenay 1er Cru Maladière
Pinot Noir, Burgundy, France
The entire Girardin family are renowned winemakers, including Jacques’ father, Jean, and his well-known brother, Vincent. Jacques has been producing wine from his own Domaine since 1978. Located in Santenay, the 17-hectare Domaine Jacques Girardin produces a range of red and white wines, featuring 1er Cru sites in Santenay, Savigny-lèsBeaune and Chassagne-Montrachet and an exceptional old vines Bourgogne Pinot Noir. Deep garnet color. Very ripe dark fruit aromas: black currants, red plums. Layered texture and soft tannins, round on the palate, followed by a long, satisfying finish. Superb value in a Premier Cru Burgundy.

🍷 EnRoute Les Pommiers
Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, California
Blended from three of the most coveted vineyards in the Russian River Valley, the 2022 vintage was marked by near-perfect weather conditions. The resulting wine is generous yet soft, with notes of strawberry preserves and fresh rain on the forest floor. Aromas of fresh raspberry compote are complemented by notes of baking spice and fresh rain on a forest floor. Generous yet soft strawberry preserve flavors expand on the palate with elegant, silky tannins. A mouthwatering acidity glides across the finish.

It's a grape day to talk about our favorites! With happening Monday, we wanted to share a couple of grape varietals we love tasting and learning about. We'd love to read in the comments about your favorite grape varietal!

CHENIN BLANC, Doug
Maybe it’s this grape’s uniqueness and versatility, resulting in wines that range from dry to fully sweet, and still to sparkling. Perhaps it’s because its an unsung hero of white wines. Possibly more than anything, it could be because it’s the sole grape in one of the most cerebral wines in the world: Savennières. We’re talking about Chenin Blanc, a grape with widely varying flavor and aromatic profiles. And given its range of qualities, how can you not be interested!?

If Chardonnay is your go-to, perhaps with some oak aging, this might be a fun alternative. If Sauvignon Blanc’s acidity and bright flavors are your style, it’s worth noting that Chenin Blanc is its half-sibling (parentage to the Savagnin grape, another unknown variety) offering a similar stylistic approach. From the Loire Valley in France to South Africa, this varietal is an excellent food wine that will satisfy those expanding their wine journey.

CABERNET FRANC, Lacie
I love Cabernet Franc for its alluring aromas of raspberries, violets, and bell peppers that light up my senses with each sip.

The wine's often velvety texture, medium body, and balanced acidity create a delicious experience on the palate. Its versatility in expressing terroir and winemaking styles has always inspired me, offering a wide range of flavor profiles to explore.

Whether enjoying a pure varietal expression or a blend, Cabernet Franc consistently delivers complexity and nuance that I always find myself coming back to. Its ability to age gracefully only deepens my appreciation for this grape, making it a constant companion in my wine journey. And one that I’m regularly drinking!

So, what's in that wine bottle you're curious about? Does the label speak to you, or is it somewhat intimidating to understand? Fear not; we'll help you decode the mysteries of Old and New World wine labels so you can deduce what wine is inside the bottle. Wine labels can offer much information but might seem cryptic at first glance. However, if you know what you're looking for, you'll find yourself closer to purchasing and drinking something you'll enjoy! We'd love to help you understand the somewhat confusing and unfamiliar abbreviations, terms, and vintage release date requirements, among many other items. We might even laugh a bit as we try to pronounce some German and French label identifiers together.

Happy National Wine Day! ✨ Our passion for wine is more than just a love of flavors; it's a dedication to learning, exploring, and sharing. We travel to renowned wine regions, build relationships with winemakers and distributors, and continuously expand our knowledge. Currently, we’re working hard on another Wine & Spirit Education Trust Certification to bring even more expertise to our community.

We believe that wine should be approachable, not pretentious. Our shop is a welcoming space where you can ask questions, learn, and explore the world of wine without intimidation.

In celebration of our shared love for wine, we are excited to announce our new series, Wine 101! These free in-shop sessions are designed to demystify wine for all enthusiasts. Join us for our first session on June 19th from 5-6:30 pm, where we'll unravel the secrets of Old and New World wine labels. Ever wondered what those cryptic labels really mean? We'll decode them together, helping you choose wines with confidence and maybe even share a laugh as we tackle some tricky pronunciations! These sessions take place during regular business hours - our full menu and bottle selection are available.

Come learn, taste, and enjoy with us. Cheers to a never-ending journey of wine discovery! 🥂

Lloyd Cellars 2022 Carneros Chardonnay is the latest vintage of this popular California wine, known for its complexity and versatility with food. It's an example of the luscious, rich California style many love, balanced with natural acidity. This 100% Chardonnay, barrel fermented and aged for 10 months in American oak and left on the lees right up until bottling, makes a great match for many dishes, especially those with bold or buttery flavors. We suggest butter-poached vegetable dishes, lobster, seafood pasta, roast chicken, baked brie, and a shrimp Po' boy with plenty of dressing.

“Our love of wine and vines is passed down from generation to generation.”

At the beginning of the last century, the first lines of the Domaine were written in the Burgundian region, following the example of the family's great-grandfather, Joseph Noblet. In 1927, Joanny Noblet, son of Joseph, took over from his father. In 1977, the fourth generation settled on the estate under the leadership of Gilles Noblet. Since 2017, the fifth generation has taken over the reins of the Domaine: Mylène, the daughter of Yvette and Gilles Noblet.

Located in the iconic and historic Fuissé, the heart of the southern Maconnais, Gilles Noblet’s 12-hectare Domaine represents the best artisan traditions of the region: respect for the different “terroirs” of the Domaine, low yields in the vineyards, and meticulous winemaking that expresses both the Chardonnay fruit and the characteristics of the vineyard site, with a gentle (20% new) touch of oak.

The average age of the vines is 45 years, with some vines as old as 75 years. Gilles Noblet Pouilly-Fuissé is a high-quality expression of this famous appellation and makes one realize why it became so popular with Americans in the 1970s. In a region dominated by high-volume cooperatives and the labels of Negociants, Noblet’s wines show the quality that can be attained in this region with a more personal and artisanal approach to wine production.

In celebration of Chardonnay Day on May 23rd, we are shining a bright, golden light on three expressions of this incredibly versatile varietal from our wine shop.

Francine Bachelier's family has cultivated Chardonnay since 1833. She is a woman of character, proud of her origins and values. Teaming up with her husband Olivier, and now two of their children, the family tradition continues, and they are happy to share with you the complexity of the Chablis region. They own a small, highly-regarded estate in Maligny, which lies at the northern edge of the slope of the Grand Cru Chablis vineyards.

Olivier markets his wines as Domaine Savary, while Francine makes limited selections in the cellar for the wines of her label. They own vines in two Premier Crus, "Fourchaume" and "Vaillons." Bachelier wines are traditional, un-oaked, and 100% Chardonnay, aptly reflecting the classic style of the Chablis appellation and the chalky terroir of Maligny. This means a glass of bright, shimmering green-gold wine that offers an ethereal fragrance, a mouthful of racy, flinty flavors, and a long, mineral finish.

"Reserve du Sanglier" refers to the wild boars that descend from the nearby forests to invade the vineyards, gorging themselves on the ripest and best grapes, much to the chagrin of the local vignerons.

🚧🍷 CLOSED TODAY 🍷🚧 Looks like the only thing flowing today is concrete, not wine! Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be closed today and will update you on Saturday as we know more.

The unanticipated construction in front of our shop has us corked for the day. The construction activities have made it impossible for us to operate our business safely and effectively. Our top priority is the safety of our customers, and we believe temporarily closing our store is the best course of action to ensure everyone's safety.

We’re sorry we can’t pour you a glass or two, but we promise it’ll be worth the wait when you return! Stay tuned, stay thirsty, and hopefully, next time, we'll be saying "sip happens" instead of something else! ❤️

We hope to hear from mall management with an update shortly.

Cheers to Pinot Grigio Day with a classic: Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio from Alto-Adige in Northern Italy! This is a perfect bottle to keep stocked in your fridge through Summer, whether you're going out on the boat, picnicking, having a post-hike sip, or heading to a friend's house for al fresco dining.

We love this Pinot Grigio because it is more layered and interesting on the nose and palate. It's wonderful as an aperitif and incredible with dishes such as butter-poached fish, shrimp scampi, pasta pomodoro, aged goat cheese, and grilled chicken salad.

Sabine and Christof are the fifth-generation owners of the Tiefenbrunner Wine Estate and take great pride in their heritage. For them, it is both an honor and a responsibility to carry on the legacy and to continue writing the story of the Tiefenbrunner family, chapter by chapter, year after year, vintage after vintage. Cristof says, "The art of winemaking is a valuable part of our family identity. Nurturing it with respect and carrying it forward is our daily responsibility."
