The September Tasting Extravaganza makes its triumphant return! đ·đ€đŒđđŒ
Is this a case of wine sitting, waiting, eager to be poured into a glass? MaybeâŠkeep your ears open. We might have an announcement to make very soon!
Fresh burgundy drop!! We love days like this đ€
You know what a busy weekend means? Lots of room for awesome new beers! Weâve got new brews from some of our favorite breweries and some brand new breweries to try out. And lots of fun new wines coming right behind!
You may have noticed a polka dotted albarino on our shelves in the past. We indeed do carry Paco & Lola year-round, as it is always a standout example of albarino, with lovely upfront lemon blossom, lemon rind, and pure green apple fruit. There are 442 families involved in the Paco & Lola co-operative project in Rias Baixas, and all grapes are hand harvested and sustainably produced. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for at least three months, itâs medium-bodied with refreshing acidity.
Luckily for us, they also make a Limited Edition rainbow polka dot label every year to promote their allyship! Paco & Lola is well-known for working with many LGBTQ+ organizations in Spain, like GOTAS, so we thought it would be perfect for our annual campaign to benefit CAMP Rehoboth. CAMP Rehoboth is a local LGBTQ+ community center determined to Create A More Positive (CAMP) environment that is inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities in Southern Delaware and beyond. During the month of June, Bin 66 will be donating ALL profits from Paco & Lola Albarino to CAMP!
We are honored and overjoyed that we had the opportunity to host this event. HUGE thanks to Bouchaine Winery, our local Bouchaine representative Jamie Bossard, and Bouchaine owners and Delaware natives Tatiana and Gerrett Copeland.
The SPCA collected $1,200 in direct donations from attendees. Additionally, from raffles and ticket sales, we added another $1,520 to that, for a grand total of
$2,720 in total donations
from this event! Not to mention:
FOUR dogs found their forever homes! đ¶ đ¶đ¶đ¶
Thank you to the volunteers from the , our own staff at Bin 66, , , and and for helping us get this event up and running.
And of course, thank you to our Bin community and all of the attendees for showing up, buying tickets, braving the chilly weather, drinking wine and buying raffle tickets, and adopting puppies! We are so lucky to have so many customers that share a passion for the causes that we hold in our hearts. We quite literally could not have done it without you all.
Weâre hiring! Message us if you are interested! Bookmark this and/or send it to a friend!
Setting tables for Cellar Masters #3. A few times a year, when we are able to find just the right wines, and just the right speaker, we host small tastings in The Library at Bluecoast. We are looking to bring the most interesting, most historic, most iconic wines that we can with the people that can speak most passionately about them to our customers and share a fantastic evening with a few exceptional glasses.
If youâre interested in joining this email list for future events please message us on Instagram or email us at [email protected]
Itâs official - we are excited about boxed wine this year! Weâve shouted out Nomadica Wines before but we had to show them some love again as they continue to prove that high quality, sustainable, and most importantly, delicious wine can be found in sustainable alternative packaging.
Founded in 2017 by sommelier Kristen Olszewski as a wine in a can brand focused on organic and sustainable wines. Her goal has been to source less conventional, high quality wines from California growers and make them accessible to everyone from both a taste and packaging perspective. And well, weâve been huge fans day one. And now we can get more Nomadica wines in one go!!!
We wanted to make a slightly different anniversary post this year. Weâre a few days late but anyone that was here this weekend for our wine tasting will know that we had our hands more than a little bit full. We have learned so much in these past two years and weâve also gotten to know so many of our customers and are constantly humbled by your appreciation and praise of everything weâre doing. The flip side of our blockbuster weekend wine tastings is our Mondays spent in the shop meeting with suppliers, tasting wines, placing orders, planning events, coordinating programs, and generally turning our bar into a 30 foot long office desk with a suitable napping area for the dogs. We thought everyone might enjoy a small peek behind the curtain of what the quiet office days are like that keep the wheels at Bin spinning. And also the general exhaustion we all feel at the end of it that has been so aptly portrayed by Aries this afternoon. Thank you for two glorious years and also a very happy 21st Birthday to Bin 66! If you didnât catch our article in the Cape Gazette consider giving it a read. Cheers, and as always, thank you for all of your love and support.
We are grateful to be nominated for Best of Delaware again this year! Cast your vote for us under Food & Drink>Wine Store - Downstate. Thank you for the nod! Link in comments to vote!
Isn't Aries a wonderful demonstrator? Good boy!
Weâre calling it now - 2024 will be the year of bitter liqueurs. If youâre new to the world of high quality Vermouth, may we suggest trying a domestic option. Capitoline from D.C., started in 2015, and Ransom from the Willamette Valley, started in 1997, are two incredibly delicious, and incredibly different, producers. But they are BOTH fantastic examples of Vermouths made with intention, worthy of being consumed on their own, on the rocks, or used to elevate your favorite cocktail. And if neither of those work weâve got 14 other Vermouth options to choose from along with an army of bitter liqueurs to expand your world!
We are closing an hour early tonight to make sure our staff get home safely. We will be open normal hours at 10AM tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding and please be safe if youâre out and about!
As the first snowfall just starts to stick to the grass, itâs FINALLY winter beer season for real! It might not be a blizzard but itâs enough to justify some winter warmers and dark beers, if you ask us. Plus a little Pinot Noir for good measure (hi ) if beer isnât quite your cup of tea. Weâre open and enjoying the snow! Be safe out there.
Another Toys for Tots drive has come to a close! Thank you thank you thank you for your incredible support again this year. We overflowed the donation bin several times and have over 80 tickets in the drawing which weâll pull on Christmas Eve. Our community continues to blow us away, you are all incredible!
A reminder that alcohol is not a pre-requisite for enjoying the holidays. We have continued to expand our non-alcoholic selections and are constantly on the hunt for new, exciting, and high quality options to fit every palate and fill every glass. Cheers!
The Collectors Corner got a little face lift today! Weâve made it easier to shop and find AND weâve made sparkling wine easier to find, front and center smack in the middle of the store. We think youâre going to like what weâve done with the place.
Donât give up the shopping spirits just yet! Remember, tomorrow and Sunday is Binâs annual wine sale - 20% off all 750ml bottles of wine. If you canât stop in give us a call!
Saturday 10-7
Sunday 10-5
*Wines ending in .97 not eligible for discount. Wines may not be set aside for pick up this weekend*
Have an excellent holiday with all the family, food, and wine you can handle. We will see you at 10am on Friday! Cheers!
The Bin annual Toys for Tots drive has officially begun! We are collecting toys again this year for donation, and as with last years drive, each individual toy donated gets a raffle ticket that will be pulled on Christmas Eve for a private tasting with you and 9 of your friends presented by Derrick and Riley. Keep an eye out for an email with more details later this month!
Nerd Alert! I have been trying to track this wine down for over 5 years, and I am so incredibly excited to now represent (an insanely limited quantity) what I consider to be one of the greatest Champagne Rosés from my favorite producer.
V***e Fourny et Fils is an incredible, if tiny, estate closing in on 200 years of production in the village of Vertus in the CĂŽte des Blancs. What makes this particular bottle so incredible is that is 100% Pinot Noir, a varietal that represents only 2% of all planting in the CĂŽte des Blancs. Aged on less for 5 years, it is a rich, beautiful, complex, and decadent example of what hands on growers are capable of in Champagne.
Cheers!
- Derrick
Barrel drop! Just delivered this afternoon - the Bin 66 single barrel select of Pinhook 8yr, the next in the series of aged Pinhook Bourbon. Hand selected by the staff at Bin, we are super excited for this barrel, just in time for fall and some perfect whiskey weather. Grab a bottle at Bin or in Hockessin.
Ok folks, were calling it. While Bin 66 will remain open normal hours (until 8pm) for any needs that may arise, the tasting is off for tonight.
We just took a ride down to the inlet and the water is up nearly up to the road. With another strong band of Ophelia headed our way and high tide peaking at any moment, we feel it is irresponsible to encourage people to come out and taste tonight. We arenât moving this tasting far though! We will hang on to these wines for a few days and when everything is good and dried out, we will hold this tasting next Friday the 29th from 4-7pm. Then Saturday the 30th, we will be featuring Mary Taylor herself in yet another tasting!
A tropical storm can only keep us down for so long! We will see all your shining faces next weekend!
This weekendâs tasting is easy and breezy. âCoastalâ is the theme, and weâll be wearing our beachiest prints, jamming to Jimmy Buffett, and pouring wines from coastal regions all over the world. from will be leading the charge before he goes on Dawn patrol. đ€đŒ we still have many more tasting to come! Mark your calendars!
Today is the first day of our September Sipping Spectacular! We donât want summer to end, so weâve decided to turn party mode on and hold a wine tasting every weekend in September (there are 5 of them!). And weâll end our 6 week, yes 6 week, marathon with the new wine club tasting on the first weekend in October. Notify your book clubs (we know what theyâre really for), grab your Bin bags, and your favorite crazy straw and come taste with us! Weâll see you for round 1 tonight at 4.
We soju, do u?
