🔄 DID YOU KNOW? Wisconsin leads the nation in roundabouts! 🔄

We’ve got a whopping 550 roundabouts (and counting) in our beautiful Badgerland – with most found in Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Appleton. 🛣️✨

Why so many roundabouts? The Wisconsin DOT focuses on safety. Because traffic in roundabouts only goes one direction, two of the most dangerous types of accidents – head-on collisions and left turn-related crashes – are virtually eliminated.

With speed limits around 15-20 mph, any accidents that do happen tend to be minor "fender benders" rather than serious crashes. As Xiao Qin, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor of civil and environmental engineering, explained to the Journal Sentinel: “Roundabout design reduces the number of conflict points at a conventional intersection from 32 to just eight.” And for pedestrians, it drops from 24 to eight.

Catch and release trout season is now open on designated inland streams across the state, but trout might not be the only species in these cold waters.

If you're out targeting some early-season trout, be mindful of aquatic invasive species, like the New Zealand mudsnail, that might be lurking in the banks or stream bottoms of your favorite spots.

Help prevent the spread of these aquatic hitchhikers with a few easy steps before heading home or to your next fishing spot:

– Inspect fishing equipment for attached aquatic plants, animals or mud.

– Remove all attached plants or animals.

– Drain water from your waders and gear.
