This is a photo of Joey from Portsmouth, NH. He came to the Dover Slow Burn Lounge Dover on Friday, 7/19, and took this week's Mystery Beer challenge. Without tasting it, he was able to guess what it was -- first guess -- by the aroma and by "listening to the sound of the hops." He won a Federale cigar for his impressive knowledge of beers. Joey is the real deal -- a cigar smoker who really knows his beers!

If you're up to take on this week's Mystery Beer challenge, and you get it right, I'll give you a free Federale.

Ok, so this is a first…beer connoisseur Seth Frink of Newington, NH, guessed the Dover Slow Burn Lounge Mystery Beer of the week by taking a quick sniff of it — he didn’t need to taste it (he won a Federale cigar for his impressive knowledge of local beers). All onlookers were impressed! Tim and Adam, cousins and life-long buds from Boston, MA, stopped by Slow Burn Lounge, Portsmouth, to partake of some 120 proof New England Barrel Company bourbon (distilled in Kentucky and distributed in Dover, NH). Tracy Maher (Chelmsford, MA) and her friend Melissa Overmiller (Harvard, MA) stopped by Slow Burn Lounge in Portsmouth for drinks and some good laughs before attending the local Cake concert. Tracy had an espresso martini (three coffee beans, right Tracy?!), and Melissa had a dirty martini (cocktail olive and onion included — at her insistence!).

Missing from the photo is Tracy’s husband, Mike, a great guy who opted to not be in the pic.

Calling all American patriots and cigar aficionados! The Fourth of July is quickly approaching, and one way to celebrate our American freedoms (officially established in 1776) is with the new "76" cigar by Kevin “the Commish” Parow, founder of the New England Cigar Militia (NECM).

Federale is back! We worked with Rocky Patel Premium Ci**rs on these three blends and came up with some incredible smokes! We would be hard pressed to find ci**rs this good for this price. Stop by any of our locations to give one a shot and let us know which is your favorite!

I just wanted to share how Gary help me (Quinn). When I turned 18 back when that was the legal age I walked into our Dover Location looking for a birthday cigar. Of course it was Gary behind the counter! I walked up told him it was my 18th birthday and asked what cigar I should get to celebrate it. Without thinking he strode over to one of the cases, opened it and handed me a cigar. It was a God of Fire. To no surprise I loved it. The next time I walked in I told the knowledgeable Gary how much I liked it but could not afford it on the regular. So I asked for 2 ci**rs to try that were more affordable. Once again without missing a heartbeat Gary Walked me over to a case first handing me a Liga Privada Papa Frita. He spewed some info at me that at the time I could not comprehend and walked me to another case handing me a Foundation The Tabernacle. Gave a splurge of info on that and said smoke them and tell me which one you like more, inviting me back of course but encouraging me to grow my pallet. The man knows how to make a customer keep coming back. I did not see Gary for about six months after but every time I went in to pick up ci**rs it was one of those two. I did not want to try something new that Gary did not approve of himself. Fast forward about six months I was walking through Portsmouth and saw him smoking a pipe in the window. I had to stop in and ask what cigar to try next. I have to admit I have forgotten what he recommended that day, lost to the impact he made with his first recommendations. However he did also sell me on a briar pipe. I had only ever smoked a cob because I could not justify the cost of briar. That black strait rhodesian nose warmer became my go to pipe for years to come. As my pipe collection grew that little pipe got smoked less and less. Eventually a pipe I smoked rarely to remember the beginning of my journey. A few months back I was sitting with another pipe smoking friend and he brought up how he loved that small black pipe. This friend had found a new love for pipe smoking and was eager to continue to learn more. I gifted him the pipe that day. I thought it only fitting that it should help grow another pipe smokers passion as it did mine. Gary has been a huge driving force for my love of to***co and has influenced my reason to be a part of the company he had dedicated over a century too. It is important to me as well as everyone here at Federal that we give back to him as much as he has given to our community.
