There are a couple handfuls of wineries who are driving the Willamette Valley Chardonnay discussion -- and who are making the most compelling and fantastic Chards. The discussion isn't complete without the inclusion of Seth Morgen Long, whose singular path is to focus exclusively on Chardonnay. His 2017 Chards are, from top to bottom, diverse, dynamic, and above all delicious.

We've written (for years now!) about being THE hottest Oregon winery. And somehow the supernova burns brighter with each release. Interstellar math it is not -- when the nicest people around make some of the best wines around, amazing things can happen. We've seen it all, but we've never seen an Oregon winery blossom in the way Walter Scott continues to.

As great as Will’s Willamette Valley bottling is, this is staggeringly better. Sweetly expressive, aromatic and perfumed, densely packed with flavor, purely silken, mouthwateringly fresh, the essence of oh dear that's amazing, which is exactly what I wrote in the middle of a descriptive sentence of my tasting notes except "dear" was something less proper. This cannot come more highly recommended. Only 70 cases made.
