It’s new cocktail Friday at SLD!! Our cocktail this week is the venerable Hurricane. The Hurricane isn’t a super complicated cocktail but in order to make one you need Passionfruit and getting your grubby mitts on passionfruit can be tricky. I got lucky; I found some Goya brand, frozen, 100% passionfruit pulp at La Bodega Latina Grocery Store in Portland and it is excellent. And, La Bodega is a really cool neighborhood grocery store so even if you don’t plan on making your own Hurricanes, you should check them out.

Hurricane: Rum, OJ, fresh squeezed lime, passionfruit syrup, and grenadine. At the distillery we use our premium Spider Island Rum, we make our own grenadine and we made the passionfruit syrup fresh as well. You probably won’t find a better Hurricane between here and Pat O’Brien’s.
