Staining Danish Rye Whisky.
Stauning was founded in 2005 by a collective of nine friends setting out to make a difference and bring whisky distilling back to Denmark. They focused on traditional production methods, such as floor-malting of the local rye and barley grains and using direct fire to heat the small stills, to create whisky reflecting the Danish ethos.
Floor malting is a rare traditional method of malting grains in small batches that allows for greater control of the grain, delivering authentic character and depth of flavour, and transferring the elegance and beauty of the Danish West Coast to the whisky. This is lost practice in most places and very few distilleries floor malt 100% of their grains.
Designed with simplicity and a respect for nature at its core, Stauning Rye Whisky is made with local Danish rye and barley using traditional craftsmanship: 100% floor malted in the distillery, double distilled in our small direct-fired copper pot stills and matured in virgin American white oak barrels.
Stauning Rye Whisky Sherry Cask Finish Limited Edition, Only 800 bottles are available. O.ur straight Danish Rye, has been finished in a parcel of hand-selected Pedro Ximénez PX and Palo Cortado Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.
