Dinner is served, and the star of the show is a bottle of Mocali, a Tuscan wine icon with a story as captivating as its taste.

Initially, Mocali, like many other estates in the region, was a diversified farm, growing grapes alongside grain, raising sheep for cheese, and cultivating olive groves for oil. However, fate intervened in 1985 when a devastating frost decimated their olive trees prompting Tiziano Ciacci, the founder’s grandson, and his wife Alessandra Mililotti to re-evaluate their path.

Seizing this opportunity, the couple made a daring decision: to transform the ravaged olive groves into vineyards dedicated solely to Brunello production, and as they say, the rest is history.

The wines show great promise, with wonderful charm and elegance, and are already accessible. At prices we haven't seen in five years, these are not wines to pass up.

Tom crafts pre-dinner martini magic for Don.

If you'd like to recreate Don's favorite martini, start by filling a mixing glass or shaker with ice cubes. Add 2.5 oz. Tito's Handmade Vodka and 0.5 oz. Dry Vermouth. Stir well (or shake if preferred) until thoroughly chilled. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass and garnish with olives.
