Château Roquefort is a wine estate owned by the Bellanger family and managed by the second generation, Frédéric Bellanger. Pick of the Week:
Paulo Conterno 'A Mont' Langhe Nebbiolo
Piedmonte, Italy 2021

Regular: $25
This week: $21 (through Mon., Oct. 7th)

The Conterno family have grown fruit and made wines in the Ginestra commune in the Barolo appellation since 1886. Proprietor and winemaker Giorgio Conterno visited us earlier this year. His hand-harvested grapes, carefully de-stemmed, with extended maceration and aging in large oak casks, consistently yield beautiful, classic wines of fine fruit, depth and finesse. The high concentration of limestone in the Ginestra soils produces highly structured wines.

This 100% Nebbiolo wine is bright garnet red in color with a floral bouquet of red roses and red fruit. Full-bodied with complex, elegant structure, slightly spicy flavors and a lingering finish on the palate. A wonderful pairing for autumn fare dishes with powerful flavors!

Pairs well with: Meat main course dishes with sauces such as veal osso bucco, beef stew with vegetables served over polenta, your favorite pasta with meat sauce, chestnut gnocchi with Gorgonzola cream sauce, brisket and mushroom pie, mushroom risotto with truffle oil, mushroom pizza, chicken Marsala, duck breast, venison, lamb, foie gras, charcuterie platter with aged cheeses such as Pecorino, Parmigiano Reggiano, Gouda, Fontina.

Tenuta J. Hofstätter is one of the largest privately owned wine estates in the Alto Adige with nearly 124 acres. Yet they manage to have a reputation for producing wines of incredible quality. Their white wines are considered the benchmark by which all others are measured in the region.

Rich and unctuous with mountain freshness and purity, this medium-bodied, well-structured and beautifully harmonious Weißburgunder (Pinot Bianco/Pinot Blanc) offers mouthwatering acidity. Pick of the Week:
Comte de Negret Cuvée Grande Réserve
Fronton, Southwest France 2022

Regular: $14
This week: $11 (until Mon., Sept. 9th)

Legend has it that the Négrette varietal, the black grape identified with the vineyards of Fronton, just north of Toulouse, was brought from Cyprus by the Order of the Knights from the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem. It is well established that the Knights Hospitaller were in Fronton, thus the appellation has been the home of this varietal since circa 1130.

This blend of Négrette, Cabernet Franc and Syrah is delightful with a deep purple hue, aromas of violets and ripe summer berries, intense flavors of ripe blackberries and raspberries, well-balanced tannins, followed by a subtle hint of licorice on the finish.

Pairs well with: Cassoulet, duck magret, grilled steaks, roasted chicken, pork loin, charcuterie, grilled sausages, ratatouille, aged cheeses such as Cantal, Salers, Ossau-Iraty, and Fourme d'Ambert.

Pick of the Week:
Clos de Nouys Vouvray Blanc Sec Loire Valley, France 2022

Regular: $21
This week: $17 (until Mon., Aug. 19th)

Clos de Nouys is one of the oldest and most prestigious estates in the Vouvray appellation, recognized for its exceptional quality. The vineyards of the Loire Valley were born in the fifth century with the advent of monasteries. The river valley region flourished with the Kings of France establishing grand châteaux residences and spurring further development of viticulture. The Clos de Nouys estate appears on geographical maps from 1907 with its parcels of vineyards noted as being among the best sites in Vouvray. Its wines were served on the SS Normandie transatlantic liner in 1936, the same year the appellation was established.

Domaine Chanier was founded in 1973 and acquired Clos de Nouys in 1997. The second generation, François and Philippe Chanier, now head the firm and its multiple Loire Valley estates. This fifty acre estate has vines averaging thirty-five years old. The terroir consists of south and west facing hillside vineyards on clay, limestone and silex soil with a thick layer of tuffeau, a soft, mineral rich limestone with water retaining properties, the combination of soils act like a sponge, most helpful in periods of drought and the terroir of choice for Chenin vines.

This Vouvray Blanc Sec wine is 100% Chenin Blanc. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged on the fine lees for three months. Pale yellow in color with silver tints, it is fruity on the nose with white flower, currant, pear, apple, apricot and citrus notes. Flavors of dried apple, pear and apricot fruits. Dry and rich on the palate, with well balanced acidity and steely minerality on a clean finish. A marvelous expression, this is as good and affordable as Chenin Blanc gets!

Pairs well with: seafood, lobster, scallops, crab, sushi, fish and chips, baked salmon or halibut and vegetables, goat cheese soufflé, your favorite goat cheese.
