Pick of the Week:
Tarrica Pinot Noir
Central Coast, California 2022

Regular: $17.49
This week: $14 (through Mon., July 14th)

The name Tarrica is a derivation of Taryn and Erica, the two daughters of Sam and Valerie Balakian, who own and operate the small, family winery founded in Paso Nobles in 2000. Sam has been crafting fine wines for forty years.

This 100% Pinot Noir produced from grapes grown in the Central Coast of California is a vibrant, semi translucent garnet color. The bouquet has aromas of red plum, warm strawberry compote, cranberries, cherries and licorice root with subtle hints of red flowers, mint leaves and minerals rounding out the layered, toasty notes. On the palate are flavors of red berries, strawberries, plums, raspberry, cranberry, with hints of anise and minerality. This lovely everyday Pinot Noir is well-balanced with fine tannins and a lovely finish of candied cranberries and subtle oak.

Pairs well with: baked or grilled salmon, roasted chicken, lamb chops, Filet Mignon, roast pork tenderloin or grilled pork chops, vegetable risotto, garlic and anchovy pasta, charcuterie, stuffed mushrooms, cranberry nut goat cheese bites, red hummus and pita, veggie lovers pizza and cheeses such as herbed goat cheese, Emmenthal, Gruyère or Gouda.

Pick of the Week:
Gulp Hablo Orange Wine
La Mancha, Spain 2023

Regular: $19.79
This week: $16 (through Mon., July 7th)

Nestled on the high-desert plateaus of La Mancha, Bodegas Parra Jiménez is renowned for its production of wines crafted from a blend of native and international grape varietals grown in certified organic and sustainable vineyards. The winery produces wines that are not only elegant but structured, reflecting the unique terroir of the region.

The high desert climate with a large diurnal temperature swing from hot days to cold nights allows the grapes to develop ripe, fruity flavors while maintaining bright acidity. Rainfall is almost non-existent leading to thick grape skins and concentrated flavors. Winemaker Pablo Parra tapped legendary Spanish winemaker, Juan Antonio Ponce, his mentor, to help craft the Gulp Hablo line.

This juicy, aromatic blend of equal parts Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc is a common combination for the white wines of the region, but here it is made into an orange wine via a week of maceration on the grape skins. Aromatics of orange blossom and tropical jackfruit, dried citrus peels, tea and preserved apricots on the ye**ty, textured palate. Bottled unfiltered thus retaining more flavors and aromas. Best served at 53-57 degrees. One liter bottle.

Pairs well with: grilled meats, fried chicken, spicy sausages, braised pork tenderloin with herbs, grilled fish or octopus, baked salmon, sautéed vegetables with Asian noodles, Thai curry, spicy Korean BBQ-style pork, Indian curry, Moroccan chicken tagine, asian-style salad or semi-hard and hard sheep's milk cheeses like Manchego, Idiazábal, Ossau-Iraty, and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Pick of the Week:
Cantine Colosi 'Rosso' Red Blend
Sicily, Italy 2023

Regular: $15.19
This week: $12 (through Mon., June 30th)

Four generations of Colosi's have grown vines on the beautifully terraced, seaside slopes of Salina, one of the Aeolian islands in the archipelago north of Sicily where sunshine, volcanic soil, and cooling sea breezes create the perfect growing conditions for both their dry and sweet varietals.

This juicy, dry red wine blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Nerello Mascalese is an intense ruby red color with cherry and blackberry and herbal aromas finishing with ripe cherry and blackberry notes, toasted nut, and vanilla notes. Nerello Mascalese is a native Italian grape varietal that has intense aromas of raspberry and blackberry complemented by floral and subtle smoky notes. Aged in French oak for up to twelve months, this delightful full-bodied blend pairs beautifully with grilled and barbecued meats.

Pairs well with: grilled sausages, cheese burgers, pizza, spaghetti with meatballs, pasta with a meat ragu, barbecue ribs, grilled vegetables, grilled tuna, pork chops, portobello mushroom burgers, Osso Buco, and cheeses such as aged Cheddar, Gouda, Pecorino, Parmigiano Reggiano, and other hard cheeses.

Altos Ibéricos was established in 2005 in the village of Labastida in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa, the most prestigious sub-region within Rioja. It was the Torres family's first endeavor in Rioja. Their wine business began in 1870 and in 155 years has grown to become a leading producer and exporter of quality Spanish wines and brandy.
