Dashfire
Lucky Lee's Irish Old Fashioned: At the heart of this cocktail is Red Locks Irish Whiskey. Dashfire has long wanted to have the chance to work with their mentor, Kieran Folliard, on a project. When the chance finally came, we jumped at it.
The flavor profile of Red Locks Irish Whiskey has tastes of warm cinnamon and spiced apple sweetness. To compliment this we made a special liqueur of red clover flowers and tart apple and rounded it out even further with some of our classic bitters.

We are talking about wine bottles today.

Have you ever wondered about the design of a wine bottle?
The darker glass can protect the wine from light exposure.
A concave base allows any sediment to settle so it doesn't mix with the wine itself, and is called a Punt. It strengthens the bottle, as well as assists in an elegant pour as a spot to hold the bottle while also limiting exposure from one's hand to change the temperature of the wine. Bottles with a larger punt tend to be heavier and give the bottle more stability.

The most recent controversy with the wine bottle has been the move from traditional corks to either a plastic "cork" or a twist top.
Many winemakers are switching for several reasons including quality control, cork availability and cost, as well as environmental impact.

Myth: A wine with a screw top is inferior to those with corks.

FALSE! As mentioned above, there are several reasons a winemaker may choose not to use a cork, so you can be confident in choosing those twist top wines and appreciate the convenience if you don't have a corkscrew.

Woody Creek Distillers began with a phone call between Patrick Scanlan and Mark Kleckner, two seasoned engineers and longtime friends. Patrick, a veteran, shared his dream of building a distillery, and Mark eagerly joined the venture, along with Pat’s wife, Mary Scanlan. Their shared vision for world-class spirits was rooted in their deep appreciation for craftsmanship and their commitment to family-owned values.

Bourbon: Aged a minimum of four years in deeply charred new American oak, it has just enough spice to get your attention!

Rye: Each bottle of the 100% Colorado Rye is crafted in custom CARL stills using locally grown rye from trusted Colorado farms, then gracefully aged a minimum of four years in new American oak.

Mary's Select Gin: This Gin was inspired by our CEO, Mary, and is infused with all-natural butterfly pea blossom with hints of rhubarb, elderflower and yuzu.

A couple of weeks ago, our store had a cooler reset for our main cooler doors. One thing we wanted to accomplish with the reset was to get more of the popular ready to drink products into the cooler so that we could offer them cold to our customers. We made it happen and this is the result.

We should note that only the most popular flavors or variety packs made it to the cooler. If there is a package that you don't see in the cooler, we may very well have it on one of the warm shelves. Please feel free to ask if there is something you are unable to find.

New Product and Brand Alert!

We now carry Sapsucker Farms Yellow Belly cider.

Juicy Apple: Introduced in February 2015. Made with a blend of over 80 different varieties of apples, grown on our farm and from other Minnesota orchards. It is a refreshing semi-sweet cider that tastes like a bite of a fresh, juicy apple. Not too sweet, not too dry.

Blue Betcha: Originally developed for the Minnesota State Fair. Now you can enjoy Blue Betcha, on tap or in cans throughout the state.

Caramel Apple: A refreshing hard cider using fresh-pressed apples and caramel flavorings. The juicy apple flavor is tart and fresh, with a smooth caramel finish.

Lara and Deb spent Monday speaking with our Representative Nathan Nelson and Senator Jason Rarick regarding and bills, current or past, and how they affect the alcohol industry in Minnesota.

Deb Lawler, Lara Smetana, Keith Kalli, and Krysta Konieska stopped by yesterday as part of the Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association and Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association Day on the Hill. I appreciate this group coming to visit and share the changes that have happened over the past year.

You may have noticed all of the activity at Voyageur Bottle Shop lately. We do our spring cleaning in the winter months so that we are ready when spring and summer arrive.

Some things we've completed already:
Increased products in our 420 section
Carpet cleaning
Beer cooler reset
Moved NA beer to a cooler
Cleaned up our wine area
Moved our cordials
Reworked our scotch section

We have lots left to do and sometimes you've got to make a mess to clean it up, so if there's something you aren't able to find, just ask!
