Moore Brothers Wine Company is unique - we source our wines directly, working with artisan winegrowers in France, Italy, and Germany. Authentic, natural wine begins with the place where the wine grew. All of our extraordinary winegrowers are guided by years of tradtion and local culture which informs the grapes they nurture, and defines the challenges of every growing season in each climate and so

il type they work with. And we bring it all to you in perfect, temperature-controlled conditions to our stores, where we offer tastings every day, and informed, helpful advice to find the right wine for any ocassion.

After more than two decades as Adam Tolmach’s right hand at The Ojai Vineyard, our good friend Fabien Castel set out to explore the potential for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown at the extreme edges of Santa Barbara County. We are thrilled to welcome Fabien back to Moore Brothers, and share his outstanding inaugural releases with you.

2020 marked the 150th anniversary of Terre Bianche, established in 1870 when the first Rosesse grapes were planted in the white soil above the Ligurian Riviera, just eight kilometers from the French border. “Here in Liguria, Filippo Rondelli told me, “we have every Italian microclimate, from Sicilia to Alto Adige, all in a space of just 20 kilometers. So unlike the Sardinian and Tuscan wines, our Vermentino shows both the exuberance of the Mediterranean, and the elegance and purity of the Alps.” But the reputation and influence of this remarkable estate today is mostly due to Filippo himself, who took over the estate at the age of twenty, on the death of his father, Claudio. “My problem is that I’m a perfectionist and never happy with results...and our problem is that we’re not in Piemonte, so we have to work a lot to reach our goals.”

New arrivals from !
The journalists lionize Klaus-Peter Keller as the greatest German winegrower of his generation, but he doesn’t have time for media stardom, and is quick to point out that “great wine would not be possible here, if it weren’t for these great limestone soils. It’s only that someone had to remember the old tradition and just make good wine.” Today, over two-thirds of Klaus-Peter and Julia Keller’s production is allocated to private customers, with the rest going to a short list of Michelin-starred restaurants and to a few select specialty wine shops, including every year since 2001, a modest allocation for Moore Brothers. Please join us to celebrate the arrival of the first wines from the 2023 vintage, including, for the first time since 2018, Grüner Silvaner!

Electric Südtirol
Peter and Brigitte Pliger began producing wines under the Kuen hof name in 1990. Their six hectares of land — located just outside the town of Bressanone, a short distance from the Austrian border – have been in the family for two hundred years and planted to vines since the twelfth century.
The winemaking is geared towards preserving the vibrant minerality and structure his soils provide resulting in wines that are completely dry, with a complelling richness and complexity. His total production is fewer than 3,000 cases.

If there is any Barolo producer who perfectly embodies the idea of stewardship of his heritage, it is Elio Grasso. He was working in a bank in Torino in 1978 when his grandfather died, leaving him a small cascina and a few giornate of vines on the Gavarini and Ginestra hills of Monforte d’Alba. Elio promptly quit the bank to become a wine grower. Today he still works every day in the vineyard, preferring to leave the cellar and business to his son Gianluca, who produces the wines. The estate is now always counted among the top producers in Italy.
Grasso farms 18 hectares of vines, surrounded by 24 hectares of forests and meadows that they consider vital to their terroir.
“I strongly believe that tradition is fundamental,” says Elio’s son Gianluca, whose vision in the cellar has helped cement the estate’s top position in Monforte since the early 2000s. “But I also think that there’s no tradition without innovation—and let’s not forget that the tradition we have is the product of past innovations.”

Alessandro’s back for the first time since 2014! Please join us as we welcome our good friend Alessandro Castellani of Ca La Bionda, one of the leading estates in Valpolicella, back to the Tasting Table. Along with his elegant single vineyard Valpolicella “CasalVegri” 2021 and flagship Amarone “Ravazzol” 2018, Alessandro is sending us a tiny quantity of his exceptional “Bianco del Casal” a blend of autochthonous white grape varieties of the Veneto, which will make its Moore Brothers debut at this special visiting winegrower tasting.
