Join us Monday for a tasting of Austrian and German wines. Hanna Glatzer and her family make organically farmed wines in the ancient region of Carnuntum in Austria. Carnuntum generally focuses on the red varietals of Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch but we can’t resist o good Gruner and that’s one of the wines we will be pouring. We will also be pouring a Cabernet Sauvignon from Hanna’s own label. Let’s drink some wine on a Monday! Link in Bio.

Joining us next Monday is Andi Spreitzer from Weingut Josef Spreitzer in the Rheingau. This estate has been in operation since 1641. They are the perfect combination of traditional and modern wine making. We will taste two Riesling’s from their current releases, one sweet, one not so sweet. It’s going to be great! Get your tickets today. Link in bio.

The last couple of years we’ve been reading about the rising quality of sparkling wine in southern England. Wine media would have us believe that the quality levels rival that of Champagne. I don’t know about that. They are good, or at least this one is. Two friends from Sussex with a dream of sparkling wine make this pretty classic bubbly made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Creamy baked Apple, citrus, and brioche. Sure sounds like Champagne. Stop in and try a bottle tonight!

Join us Monday, January 27 at 6pm, for our first wine class of 2025!

We will be tasting the wines of Austria and Germany this time around. Two producers will be joining us as we taste some of their wines and learn a little about the people who make them and the lands they come from.

Joining us will be Andi Spreitzer from Weingut Josef Spreitzer in the Rheingau, Germany and Hanna Glatzer from Weinkeller Walter Glatzer in Carnuntum, Austria. Link in bio!

Carved in to northern slopes of Provence’s Alpilles are the spectacularly beautiful vineyards of Domaine de Trévallon. The Cabernet and Syrah are planted into the hillsides’ steep, chalky, white limestone soil, making the mountains that protect them look as if they are always covered in snow. This sustainable and organically farmed wine is unique and highly collectible for those in the know. We have the current release and a few bottle from 2012. Either would make a great gift!

Gift idea #3! We have tons of Champagne! Most of the Champagne we carry is grower-producer made. Every now and then we bring in some big house sparkles. We couldn’t resist these cute little bottles. Perfect for stocking stuffers. Plus Grand Cru bubbles under $100, ok. Stop in and grab a handful.

Perhaps you have encountered orange wine. Well this is considered by many to be the best skin contact wine there is. Joško Gravner has been producing this style of wine since the 90’s. During this time he fell out of love with his current wines and began a journey of discovery concerning traditional Georgian wine making. He began to produce the most compelling and thought-provoking wines many have tasted. This wine is made from 100% Ribolla Gialla. It is aged for six years in a combination of amphorae and Slovenian oak. There are layers of umami, white truffle, quince, and mineral energy. It is truly one of a kind.

12 days of Howard St Wine gift ideas! Really rolls off the tongue. Any who, here are some great gift ideas for the wine lover in your life. For the next twelve days we will highlight some unique and/or interesting things in the shop. Like this highly allocated Malbec from Argentina, available in 725 ml and magnums. Only three magnums available and that’s all folks! A little about Finca Adalgisa; Finca Adalgisa is located in the Chacras de Coria sub region of Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina. The estate goes back three generations within the Furlotti family when they planted 0.85 hectares of primarily Malbec in 1916. Gabriela Furlotti built an eleven room boutique hotel in 2000 on the property surrounding the vineyard. They produce only one wine which is made by beloved winemaker Carmelo Patti. Carmelo focuses on balance and terroir and is one of the few Argentine vignerons to bottle age before release. Adalgisa produces less than 500 cases per year, and we believe that their wine is one of the most elegant, Bordelaise expressions of Malbec that we’ve ever encountered.

Broc Cellars is a natural, urban winery based out of Berkely California. Established in 2002 by owner and winemaker Chris Brockway (originally from Omaha, NE), they use native fermentations and organically-grown grapes from their own holdings and grapes purchased from family-owned farms. They make fruit forward wines meant to lift you up, not weigh you down. These wines are perfect for Thanksgiving foods, light bodied and high acid. The Vine Starr Zinfandel is a standout. Harvested early to highlight the acid and fresh fruit it tastes of Huckleberry, Blackberry, Breakfast tea, Cocao and Redwood.

Stop in and grab a bottle, and don’t forget our Fall French wine tasting next Saturday(Nov 23), from 12 - 3. For more information, head to our website. Link in bio.
