Hello friends and family,

It is never easy when we lose a loved one. Last week the Spice Monkey & Howden Market family sustained an unbearable loss. Cameron worked along side us at Spice Monkey and we will miss him dearly. The last two years have been rough mentally for all of us. Separation and isolation can cause damage to our state of mind. Let’s come together to support Cameron’s family in their time of need. In doing so, maybe we can remind ourselves that staying connected and cherishing ever moment we spend together is what is truly valuable and precious in this life.

Hello lovely people,
It's been a whirlwind of a month so far and we can't believe Thanksgiving is only a week away! We're so excited for what the future has to bring as we move further into the holiday season.
BIG NEWS! Construction has finally started on our space! A new coat of paint, a new counter top and, of course, a new front door and more are on the way! We still don't have much of an estimate as to when we will be able to open, but we're a few step closer to seeing all the faces we've missed over this difficult period.
Some more special news is that we've been featured on the news! Big thanks to KTVU for highlighting us and letting us share our story. Kanitha was very excited (and a little nervous) to be able to express her concerns and raise community awareness around issues of safety and the battle between small businesses and big box superstores. DEAR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS,

Howden Market is closed due to a high speed driver crashing through our store on a busy Saturday evening - THANKFULLY no one was hurt 🙏.

Sadly, the damage is significant and we don’t know exactly how long repairs will take. This is quite a blow, especially after the Covid lockdown forced us to close our beloved Spice Monkey Restaurant next door. The hardest part for us is not being able to gather with you and our staff as a community.

Dear Valued Guest,

As you may have seen or heard, the front door at Howden Market has been replaced by a temporary plywood wall. The truth is that a drunk driver smashed into our front door on Saturday, July 24th at 7:43pm. Luckily no one was hurt in the accident, not even the driver. We want to reach out to you, our lovely community, because although we are working everyday to get back on our feet ASAP, we still don’t know exactly when we’ll be able to open again. We want to thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Everything we do, we do to serve you and our community at large. We are taking this time to bring you even more convenience as we work to launch our website where you will be able to pre-purchase your groceries and pick them up in store, or even have groceries delivered to your apartment lobby. Please look forward to more information in the near future. Although we won’t see you in our store for a bit, please know that you are still in our hearts and we are working tirelessly to bring you our great selection of goods once again.
