Woodshed Spirits is what's known as a craft or artisan distiller. As a legal microdistiller, we can sell our products directly to the public. The upside is our customers can become friends and see how and where our products are made. The downside is you have to come here, but we promise to make it worth your while. A nice thing state will let us do is sell samples for you to try...but no more than

Woodshed Spirits is a small company with a vision to grow a little bit larger than small, from 1 employee to maybe 2 or 3 over the next 5 years. We aim to do this by making the best quality spirits available from the best crops locally available. Overview

Our name comes from the small, 100 year old wooden shed that is on our little farm. We will only buy crops grown from small farms and create unique, flavorful spirits. Although we intend to buy as close to home as possible, sugar just doesn't grow too well in Ohio. History

The shed was mostly used to store things we don't use but every few years. One day I decided to clean out the old shed to see just what was in there. After I was done, I realized that it really was a lot nicer on the inside than it looked on the outside. I began to wonder what I could do with it to make a little money. Since my wife's parents come from a part of the country that is long known for making things to drink and having left some of the equipment behind for me, I thought it would be a great hobby to pick up. Unfortunately, distilling liquor isn't really a hobby as far as the government is concerned. Wine and beer are legal, but not anything like I wanted to make. So, I talked to some people in the business and got the ball rolling. As of right now it's still rolling through the government and hopefully it will stop rolling sometime around Labor Day 2013.
