Single Barrel Bourbon Store Pick Alert!

We're calling this one "Toddy A's Last Dance" as this was the last single barrel bourbon pick that former store owner, Todd Antz did before selling the stores to the new owners. So, we're digging him out of retirement to dust off his notes and give a mini-review of our latest offering. He did indeed grow up in an Indiana town, so why not be inspired by the Tom Petty hit for this review. If you liked his single-barrel picks over the years, you'll love this one.
This is a 7-year-old single barrel pick of George Remus Bourbon, with the following mash bill of 75% Corn, 21% Rye, and 4% Barley Malt. Bottled at a svelte 113.2 proof, you'll be putting on your party dress after trying this one. The nose is caramelly sweet, with slight hints of cherry, allspice, and leather. The flavor profile is what you would expect from one of his picks, very sweet. There is quite a bit of brown sugar upfront on the palate, with a few spicy hints of rye coming through. The finish is long and lingering, with a light burn that can't cut out that sweet flavor profile. The final note is just a light touch of oak.
So buy me a drink of this George Remus Single Barrel pick, and sing me a song. You better buy it quick because it won't stay long!

Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow - This complex double India pale ale has intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body that has been augmented with lactose milk sugar.

Against the Grain Pool Boi Light- last week, we did a special edition of the New Brew to point out a beer we'd missed out on our main post. Here is what we believe is the original of the Boi series of beers from Against the Grain, Pool Boi Light. Some of y'all only drink seltzer, and it shows. Why not mix it up and grab a Pool Boi Light? This crisp, refreshing beer with Kentucky blackberries is everything you wanted in a light beer.

Ciderboys Tropical Wave - Say Aloha to a tantalizing tropical trio – passion fruit, orange, and guava – all riding a wave of juicy apple cider. Whether you’re on Eastern or Pacific Time, it can always be Island Time.

Firestone Walker Tequila Sunrise - Inspired by its namesake cocktail, Tequila Sunrise started out as Helldorado, our blonde barleywine, which we aged in Extra Anejo tequila barrels, and then blended with small lots of cherry and orange bitters barrels.

Hi Wire Banana Split 10W-40 - This very special version of our sought-after 10W-40 Imperial Stout is inspired by an ice cream shop classic, the Banana Split. Brewed with Banana, Cacao Nibs, Vanilla, and Lactose, this stout (not motor oil) is super chocolatey, sweet, and elevated by tropical banana flavor.

Humble Forager Bumble - the first seltzer option from one of our best selling new breweries. This is a fruited buzzed seltzer with calamansi, blood orange, tangerine, orange blossom honey, staghorn sumac blossoms.

Royal Jamaican Ginger Beer - Really Beerguy, you're posting about ginger beer? No, I'm posting about the best ginger beer! We've not been able to stock this one for almost a year, but it's back! If you like a lot of ginger spice, this makes one of the best mules, but is also great on its own.

Schlafly Hoptic Visions - Before we get into the description, let me just say how happy we are to have Schlafly available back in Indiana. This is a variety 12 pack of 4 different hoppy brews from our friends in St. Louis.

Schlafly Kolsch - One of the best Kolsch's on the market, and it's not even brewed in Germany! Well balanced and mild-mannered, this beer is great for summer.

Schlafly Raspberry Hefeweizen - a true fruit beer, not a fruit-flavored beer. We add pureed raspberries to our Hefeweizen during the primary fermentation process. Although we add no sugar, color, or flavors, the resulting beer is a hazy pink color, with citrus aromas from the wheat and a flavor that is neat and tart.

Toppling Goliath Ferrari Backpack - We vibed out with our compadres at Lua Brewing Company to manifest liquid opulence. Brewed with a pretentiously golden aesthetic, loaded with luxuriously oil-laden hops, and soft as thousand thread count sheets. Drink fresh. Pinkies out.

Toppling Goliath Hot Dog Time Machine - What. Is. A Hot Dog Time Machine? We’re so glad you asked! To begin, we have to explore why it even matters. Our amigos at Hop Butcher for the World shared the same interest as us in exploring an alternate reality of the “fluffy” IPA. We threw multiple types of wheat into our fluff capacitor, heavily hopped it everywhere except the 88-minute boil, and fermented it with yeast primed for transtemporal travel.

Toppling Goliath Pineapple Papaya Fandango - Conjure up warm-weather vibes with this kettle sour. Tropical papaya and fresh-squeezed pineapple juice will transport your taste buds to a tropical wonderland. Sweet, tart, and then sweet again.

Untitled Art Espresso Honey Imperial Stout - Imperial Stout brewed with Honey, Espresso Beans and Milk Sugar.

Urban Artifact Kaleidoscope - A Midwest Fruit Tart with Pineapple, Orange, and Guava; inspired by our head brewer's love for P.O.G. juice. This is brewed with 1,500 lbs of pineapple, 600 lbs of guava, and 500 lbs of oranges per 30 bbl batch.

Urban Artifact Epicurean Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jelly - Apparently so new, that we can't find a picture or description of this beer. So, based on the name we will assume that it is a Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jelly inspired Epicurean Sour Ale.

Single-Barrel Pick Release Alert! No Calls, No Holds, and a Two Bottle Limit per customer. Available at both Keg Liquors locations.

Today, we have a 1792 Full Proof Single Barrel pick that we are calling The Last Ride of the Hounds. Over the years, we've done several single-barrel picks as well as events with the Louisville Bourbon Hounds. They were a huge Facebook group that had over 3000 members at one time. Unfortunately back in late January, Facebook started shutting down these large groups, and the Bourbon Hounds fell victim twice in the span of a week and the administrators made the tough call to let the group go away. Long Live the Louisville Bourbon Hounds!
In mid-January, Keg Liquors and the Bourbon Hounds trekked to Bardstown to do this 1792 single-barrel pick. This is an 8-year bourbon that was put in the barrel in December of 2012 and bottled in March of 2021 and racked up in Warehouse 27. It lived on the first floor almost right in the middle of the rickhouse until fate brought it into our lives.

If you've had any Keg Liquors picks before, then you'll know that this one is sweet. Huge caramel and vanilla notes on the nose with hints of almonds and a touch of oak. This is incredibly sweet upfront compared to a traditional 1792 flavor profile. If you know anything about a Keg Liquors pick, that is what we always look for, and for 1792, this was truly a diamond in the rough. The flavor profile includes light cinnamon, caramel, a ton of honey, with a light white pepper burn at the finish. Surprisingly very little alcohol burn for a 125 proof offering in the finish, with a slight tannic dryness. We added a few drops of water to see how the bourbon reacted to it. It really cuts down the burn on the finish, and just opened up the flavors quite a bit. The water actually boosted all of the flavors tremendously.

Craft Beer For Mental Health is a call to empower breweries from around the globe to use their platforms to stand up for those who suffer in silence with their mental health, be it with anxiety, depression, or other mental illness.

Crafted Meadery Strawberry Honey Badgertia - This margarita-inspired libation is our classic Honey Badgerita but with a balanced helping of sweet and tart strawberries!

Great Lakes Lemon Hefeweizen - Brewed with real lemon peel and puree, this cloudy German-Style Wheat Beer is a frothy and fruity ale worth hoisting more than einst.

Steven's Point Hazy Pebbles - Loaded up with all the buzzwords that the cool kids are looking for in a beer. Fruit-infused hazy IPA with colorful pineapple, sweet raspberry, and a little lactose for a milkshake-y mouthfeel.

Steven's Point Whole Hog Raspberry Sorbet - This is not the kind you find in a second-hand store.... (think about it). Radlers are refreshing. Radlers are fun. We lay out a crisp ale of Pilsen Malt and Saaz Hops, add fresh raspberry juice, citrus sweetness, generous carbonation, and double down with twice the bite of a traditional radler.

War Pigs Bouffant Jellyfish - Emerging from the depths like a long-forgotten playlist, but this beer is no nightmare. This tantalizing American Sour Ale is a dream come true. Inspired by the Berliner Weisse, this is brewed with Passionfruit and Pink Guava.

Boulder Hazed and Infused - We're talking OG craft beers with this one. This had to be one of the first references to hazy in a beer from a time when you didn't want to see anything floating in your beers. We're happy to see this one back on the market. Brewed with a diverse mix of hop varieties, Hazed & Infused blends a piney, earthy, floral nose, with added fruitiness in flavor from the Simcoe.

Destihl Hawaii Five Ale - a fruity and juicy blonde ale that will quickly transport your palate with a taste of paradise. Tropical flavors of pineapple, coconut, mango, peach, and guava are balanced by smooth maltiness.

Destihl Salted Watermelon Gose - This limited release German-style sour wheat ale is brewed with watermelon, sea salt & coriander, creating a beer that’s tart & slightly salty, but also refreshingly juicy!

DuClaw Sour Me Unicorn Farts - This glittered sour ale is brewed with fruity cereal, a trio of real fruits & finished with a sprinkle of a natural, mineral-based edible glitter.

Old Nation 70+ IPA - Using a combination of Columbus and Simcoe hops for their pine/resiny notes along with Amarillo for citrus and floral notes, Old Nation’s brewers added the proprietary Idaho 7 for a new-school tropical twist.

Old Nation Greenstone - This lighter entry into the New Orthodox Series features a hint of pepper and earth from rye in the grain bill as well as citrus and stone fruit flavors and aroma from the all Michigan hops.

Old Nation M-43 Tart Strawberry - M-43 New England style IPA brewed with fresh tart strawberries.

New Brew Thursday for our New Albany location. Our social media manager took last week off, so we've got a double portion of new and returning brews as he plays catch up. Here goes!

Three Floyds Pear Bear - a sour ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of pears. Originally released in 2016, we're happy to see this back after 5 years.

Angry Orchard Strawberry Cider - combines fresh apple flavor with ripe strawberry juiciness for a balanced, slightly sweet hard cider with a refreshing finish.
