Today was a sad day for the Westside Store. We had two instances of harassment take place. One physical assault took place that resulted in my employee needing to go to the hospital with serious facial injuries. The second was verbal harassment to my employee; took place by the same individual TWO times in one day. As a business owner I maintain a safe working environment for my employees and today due to various factors that did not happen. All my employees are members of your community – your neighbors, your children’s friends, or your family. To choose aggressive behavior against someone for doing their job or to insight fear in others is UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR. There are plenty of gas stations in town that you can go to if you feel that my employees do not provide adequate customer service or if the way I look bothers you. I would rather have you come talk to me so I can make sure you have a better experience next time than harming my employees. The safety of my employees is VERY important to me, and we will be pursing legal action against these individuals.

To the person who came into Westside around 11:30am today and defecated inside on our carpet, you should be ashamed of yourself. We are so disappointed that someone of the Muscatine community would think it is okay to disrespect management and employees of Westside Store. We purchased this business in Dec 2019 and since have made changes to make this neighborhood store better. We employ members of this very community and give back to the Community of Muscatine. Everyday we are faced with racism but today's act of disrespect really crossed a line and for the first time we feel hurt that the community has not embraced us.
