As the Millinocket Marathon & Half approaches in a few short days, we wanted to provide some helpful information to our community as we prepare for this event.

General Information:
- There will be a large increase in visitor, vehicle, and pedestrian traffic beginning Friday, December 6th and lasting into Sunday, December 8th. Please be sure to drive with patience and caution.
- There will be a large police presence on Friday & Saturday. There is nothing to be alarmed about. During the race day, there will also be an influx of Fire & EMS vehicles to assist with race day operations.
- We will operate a Command Post on Saturday for all race-related public safety operations. The Command Post will be manned with members of the Penobscot Regional Communications Center Field Comm Unit, Penobscot County Emergency Management Agency, East Millinocket Police Department, and Millinocket Fire Department
- Police & Fire personnel will be assisting with traffic at major race intersections. Please use caution as Emergency Personnel are directing traffic for the safety of the runners.
- Millinocket Fire Department & East Millinocket Volunteer Fire Department will be providing additional EMS resources dedicated to the Marathon event.

Road Closures:
The following road closures will be in effect for Saturday, December 7th. Road closures will either be posted with cones & barricades, public safety vehicles and/or personnel.

- Penobscot Ave & All Intersections – Between Central St & Katahdin Ave (6am - 6pm). All unauthorized vehicles parked on this section of Penobscot Ave after the road closure are subject to being towed.
- Veterans Memorial Park Bandstand Parking Lot (6am-6pm)
- Poplar St – Between Penobscot Ave & Katahdin Ave (6am-6pm). All unauthorized vehicles parked on this section of Penobscot Ave after the road closure are subject to being towed.
- Poplar St – Between Katahdin Ave & Golden Rd & All Intersections (Closed Just Prior to Race Start / Reopened After All Runners Pass)
Birch St – Between Penobscot Ave & Aroostook Ave (6am-11am)

Lastly, if there is information that public safety needs to urgently get out to the public during this event we will use this page as a official resource.
