It is with a heavy heart to share that we've lost another member of the Friendly Gus family today: Wayne Rogers. Wayne was a long-time employee, and, more importantly, friend. Throughout his battle with cancer, Wayne not one time complained, lost hope or waivered in his faith. We found this photo of him from another post and will always remember that great smile of his. So while we grieve over the loss and pray for his family, we rejoice in knowing he is no longer in pain and his body has been renewed in glory with our Savior and King.

Peace Officer Memorial Day is this coming Monday. As a token of our appreciation to our law enforcement community, Friendly Gus is giving away a free biscuit of choice for breakfast and a four piece tender snack for lunch/dinner on Monday to all uniformed law enforcement that come to our stores. We're excited to announce that Friendly Gus is coming to Dexter. Malone's Convenience Store has entrusted their family's store to us to carry on the tradition of serving the Dexter community for years to come. In the coming weeks, we will be adding our full kitchen that will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. More to follow on when it will be up and running, but in the meantime, we want to welcome back all the students at West Laurens High School "Raiders". Go Raiders!

We're excited to announce that, after several months of renovations, Friendly Gus is officially open in Dudley! Please swing by and check out the "new" store. It seems the word is already out, but we are excited to officially announce that Friendly Gus is coming to the City of Dudley. We also want to clear up some rumors we've been hearing 😉 We are not tearing down the store or the Jesus is Coming sign! 🙌 Our God is good and we give Him the glory and praise for the opportunity to grow our business.
The store will be closed for the next couple months while we renovate the inside. We hope to re-open around November and look forward to carrying the torch from our friend Doug Bailey by serving this great community for years to come.

She was devoted, hard working, but most importantly, a dear friend. She will forever be missed. Please join us in praying for her family.

As a Friendly Gus store associate you will be exposed to various business disciplines while working in an environment that promotes learning and growth. This position is for someone who likes to stay busy and work as part of a team. A typical workday includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous guest service.
• Maintain a clean, guest friendly environment in the store.
• Assist in food preparation, handling and service to customers.
• Run the cash register and balance cash and inventory transactions.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and keeps fresh and hot foods stocked.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, including food safety regulations.
• Maintain fresh and available beverages.
• Ensure all promotional and gasoline signage is updated.
• Clean in and outside of store (sweep parking lot, mop floors, empty trash, clean restrooms, fill water and towels at the pump, replace pay-at-the-pump receipt paper, etc).

We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks at our corporate office with room for advancement.

Accounting Clerk

Responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. You will also run accounting software programs to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful accounting assistant should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers.

• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
• Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
• Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
• Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
• Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
• Provide assistance and support to company personnel

Requirements

It is with great sadness that we share the news of losing long-time friend and employee, Bo Payton. Bo was the longest living employee of the Friendly Gus family. In light of the Dublin curfew that recently went into effect, all our Dublin and East Dublin stores will have the same opening hours but will close at 9:00 p.m. Our truck stops on Hwy 19/I-16 will continue to be open 24 hours. As a reminder, all our stores are being cleaned and sanitized throughout the day. We are ready, willing and able to keep everyone fueled up!

In the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has demanded that truck stops stay open to serve the trucking public who are keeping the nation functioning.

To all customers:

The Coronavirus pandemic is an evolving issue and we are monitoring the situation daily based on information provided by federal, state and local officials. Friendly Gus is fortunate to have been a staple in the community for many years, and we have weathered many storms. As with past events, we plan to remain open to serve our community with the same quality food and necessities at affordable prices.

We also wanted to inform customers that we are committed to practicing guidelines from the CDC and others. Stores are cleaned daily, high touch areas are being cleaned throughout the day with sanitizing solutions, and all employees have been instructed to follow hygiene and food service protocols, as they do every day. Many of our stores also have drive-thru’s and we encourage customers to use those where available.

We respectfully request that our customers do their part in flattening the exposure curve as well:

1. Practice good hygiene of washing your hands, avoid
touching your face, and sneeze or cough into a tissue or
the inside of your elbow.
2. If you are sick, please stay home.
3. Maintain social distancing while inside the store.
