From movies to history we love reproductions. Premiere corsetier to Jess W. and Cin City Burlesque, I wanted to do that. as well as Cin City Burlesque.

I remember evenings, sitting with my mom and watching re-runs of The Carol Burnette Show. For the most part, this was always just something my brother and I had to endure, but one night the skit “Went with the Wind” showed. When Carol came down those stairs with a curtain rod strung across her shoulders and a valance rolled into a hat, it sparked something in me. I wanted to have the creative free

dom to create that. It was some years later, when I was in high school, when that spark started to really catch fire. The marching band performed a Halloween show every year in costume, but we could not afford to go out and buy a costume for me to march in; I had to make one. Mom, not wanting to spend money on fabric that could be wasted, set me loose in the garage sale box. There I found a sheet and a pair of curtain sheers. I used these to make myself into Cleopatra, with a hand sewn fitted sheath dress and flowy sheer overlay that caught the wind as I walked. My mom was so impressed with what I had created, that she scraped together money to buy me accessories to really make the costume pop. From there I bought my own sewing machine and started making clothes to wear to school. An aunt adopted me for a summer and taught me some of the finer points of industrial sewing and garment construction. It was 2003 when I got my first break and found a consignment shop to sell my costumes. This is where my love affair with corsets started. In 2005 I began making my own corsets because I was so disgruntled by what I could find in stores. Over the years I have learned different techniques, and modified some, to make my original creations. In 2014 I started making corsets and costumes for pin-up model and photographer Jess W. Now as well as an Etsy and SquareUp store, you can find my work at the Cin City Burlesque shows at Bogart’s, at The Dragon’s Hoard in Covington, at Second Sunday on Main in OTR, and other pop up markets and fairs. I have definitely found my calling, and it is my desire to corset every woman I can reach, in order to help them see themselves as beautiful and desirable, regardless of their size and body shape.

Dreaming of being back in my studio playing with my fabrics.

If you're looking for an on the scrap project, I was down with some sort of plague last week and haven't made it back to the studio. 🥺

Good news is, the muggle job has a long weekend! Weekend plans:

Friday: I'll be in the lower level studio from 4pm-8pm. If you want to pick up something special for Valentine's Day, send me a message for an appointment
Saturday: I won't be at the Pendleton Art Studios Middletown because I'll be vending at Mae Moiselle Presents: Vaudeville Frolic ! This is going to be a fabulous show! I can't wait to be in the midst of all the rhinestones and glitter again.
Sunday: probably sleeping. 😴

Merry Everything Everyone!

What ever you celebrate, we wish you a safe and happy holiday.

Happiness can take a lot of forms, and sometimes it’s hard to see. This year I did just a few little things to make myself, and sometimes others, smile. One of those things was making myself one of the Santa cosplay dresses. I needed something that would be comfortable enough to travel in, but that I could also wear to the office holiday party. I was stopped so many times in the airport and by flight crew, and passed miles of smiles. It was such a little thing, but really made me feel joy this year.

We can’t wait to see you in the new year and keep bringing your smiles to life!

On this Monday morning, we want to take a moment to thank all of the veterans out there. I personally have had parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, uncles, and many friends who spent time serving.

The picture below is one of the few that I took while with my HR group for my first SHRM national convention in New Orleans. It is from the WWII museum. At that time our own country was still facing heavy racial divides while also being called to action for a world crisis. It spoke to me then and continues to speak to me now.

Happy chilly Friday morning!

As it is Friday, I will be in the working studio at Pendleton Art Studios Middletown tonight from 5pm-8pm. As always, you can come down and see me or just shout “wench” and I’ll run up to let you in the show room.

I am still enjoying my weekends at Ohio Renaissance Festival so between that and muggle life, there isn’t much new stock, but there is still loads of one of a kind pieces looking for new homes.
