We are SO back. Cry Baby is open regular hours from here through the end of the year. Come on in or else! You can bring your own stuff for me to embroider. Often I can do it while you wait. You’ll love it. Just do it.

Here’s a sweet custom jacket I finished just before vacation. This is own art, with some kicky little barbed wire stitched on the cuffs. It’s a pleasure to watch Luci grow as a tattoo artist, and as someone who only found my dream medium in the last few years I feel like we’re on similar paths. She has tattooed me a few times (with more to come), and there’s just something really special about trading art like this.

I’m still on vacation, but will be back in the shop FRIDAY. Is it weird to say I miss you? See ya soon!

Tonight from 5-7 .collective will be having community hours. If I wasn’t 800 miles away it’s where you’d find me. I hope everyone is taking good care of themselves and each other this week and beyond. ❤️

Say it with me: you and who? These two are available in store for the next, oh, three hours. The navy one is a large and big red is a 3X. Then I’m going on vacation!

Watch this space for weird hours next week while our friends keep an eye on the shop. I’m also working on getting you a new website, which means you’ll be able to enjoy the Cry Baby experience without all the chain stitch machine noise and complaints of skeletal pain from the owner. But my skeleton does hurt.

If you’ve been following on our stories, it’s another episode of Why Isn’t This Working and How Do I Fix it? This shop is and always has been broke, which is something I’ve accepted as part of the process. But it’s starting to feel different, and as I continue to grow the chain stitch side of my business, we’re not thriving. And frankly, it’s been three years since I signed the lease on this building and if I still can’t pay for it every month, what am I doing?

This was never supposed to be anything more than a general store. I didn’t learn to embroider until after I had already signed the lease, and never could have foreseen the impact it would have on my life and business. I’ve always been an artist, but it felt like something I did in spite of my day job. If you had told me five years ago that I’d be embroidering hundreds of sweatshirts and selling them in My Very Own Store, I’d s**t my pants. That’s not hyperbole. I’m sorry.

Obviously something needs to change. I need a vacation, which I intend to take very soon even if it means hitchhiking. I also need to meet people where they are, which is online. And I need to give you what you want, which is a website with stuff on it. The brick and mortar shop isn’t going anywhere for now, but after the holidays we’ll probably take a little time to grow with the doors closed.

In the meantime, I’m going to close down the website as it is right now and relaunch it as soon as I can. When we’re back up, I’ll also have a few t-shirt designs available for pre-order. Sneak peek on the last slide if you’re curious.

The shop is VERY open from Thurs-Monday this week and we’ve got some incredibly cute new stuff hitting the shelves. Thank you for your continuous, enthusiastic support of this place. Cry Baby is for the people ❤️❤️❤️

Howdy! Thank you to everyone who has been checking in since last week’s Incident. The shop has been put back to normal with the help of friends and neighbors, and I was never normal anyway so I’m ok. I think more than anything I need a vacation. So ummm come on in and shop!

First up is a sneak peek of something I’ve been working on between commissions. It just seems too fun not to share and who knows how long it’s going to take to finish. Not for sale yet, but will probably make a great holiday gift for someone you think is reeeeeally special. Then we’ve got a few snapshots of the shop, just to show you all it’s still in one piece and cute as ever. 💗

Cry Baby is closed today (Thursday). I just got here to find our cash drawer stolen. Everything is fine, all they took was the drawer. I just feel really betrayed and upset and unable to show up as my best self today. See you Friday.

Hey there! Just wanted to let you all know that larger customs for October are all booked up. That means if you need a custom jacket or whatever it will have to wait for November. If your item is already on my rack we are good! I just need to stop accepting new projects while I have such a deep stack of stitch debt. KEEP READING.

But if you want a doodle or monogram as seen here, we can do that ~while you wait~ any time. No appointment necessary! You can bring your own stuff or shop our fabulous rack of stitchable items from . I’m more than happy to answer questions and help you design personalized embroidery that can be done in 5-20 minutes. And for as little as $20! A handful of people reading this have had this very experience and I think they liked it!

Plenty of colors and textures to behold at Ye Olde Baby today. Also they’re doing some sidewalk/alley maintenance outside the shop. The guy in charge is mad that there’s no sidewalk closed sign. I’m here for the drama (until 5!)
