11am on Saturday and Sunday of this summer solstice weekend, we’ll be sharing slices of cake to praise TWO years of El Sereno Greengrocer!

If in your flow, please join us! Special guests on one or both days include Bebe A and Don Victor the Honey Man of El Sereno, both of whom the Shop has the honor and privilege of sharing birthdays.

We have survived two years of ups and downs amongst a magical force field of care, thanks to y’all comelones, our badass team, seeds and land, community and ancestral roots, vision and love.

May we continue to rise up after rest, after falls and wins, and through practices of world building.

Decolonize from Turtle Island to Congo, Palestine to Haiti, chinga la migra, and let’s stay nourished while we do so.

Flowers for Dad - Help Support an El Sereno Flower Vendor on this Fathers Day

Through a wellness check, we learned that the raids have impacted an El Sereno Flower Vendor & Beloved Dad that we have relationship with. Amongst the myriad of ways the impact has hit, lost income due to the inability to vend in this political climate has been a big one.

Perhaps you purchased Mother’s Day flowers from this street vendor, perhaps you’re looking for a way to support our undocumented neighbors and kin, or perhaps you want to send some love to this Dad who crossed borders from Mesoamerica to here, in the spirit of life and love for his family.

If so, please donate whatever you can via Zelle, VenMo or CashApp. I’ll transfer all funds directly to him.

The final two slides are reminders of the context in which many move across borders: first, the colonial U.S. role in the coup, civil war and genocide of Indigenous peoples in what is today known as Guatemala. Second, a glimpse at emerging research from a Garifuna scholar Dr. Daisy Guzman Nunez on the rarely acknowledged misogynoir and anti-Blackness that made the Afro-Indigenous Garifuna people particularly vulnerable to the war and colonial processes that are still very much alive.

All this to say, from Palestine to Haiti, Guatemala to these El Sereno streets, it’s all connected. And we do what we can toward liberation and to ease the survival where we can.

Any donation counts, thank you.
