Thank you, Butch! We ran out of gas in the middle of Nebraska due to mis-guided Google Map directions (or mis-guided driver). There is so much good in the world. Butch drive me 30 minutes to the nearest gas station and back to our car. He refused to accept any payment for his goodness and generosity. ❤️☺️

There is going to be a fee on plastic and paper checkout bags in Colorado beginning January 1st. This explains why.

Why is there going to be a fee on plastic and paper checkout bags in Colorado?

Colorado’s Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (HB21-1162) that was passed in 2021 addresses plastic and paper bags and polystyrene (also known as Styrofoam) food containers. The State’s bill has different timelines for when changes take effect and what types of stores will be impacted. The first change will take effect on January 1, 2023, when large retailers in Colorado will begin to charge $0.10 per paper or plastic checkout bag. You are able to skip this fee by bringing your own reusable bags!

Large retailers distribute a lot of plastic and paper bags, meaning that the new rules can cover a lot of ground through this one intervention, drastically reducing the number of single-use bags that are used in Colorado. Many large retailers have already started charging fees for checkout bags in other states, and have the experience and systems in place to charge and collect bag fees in Colorado!
