Bermans Wine and Spirits Berman's of Lexington has one of the best wine and craft beer selections in the Greater Boston Area.

Berman's Wine and Spirits, incorporated in 1909, is located 12 miles NW of Boston and 4 miles from Cambridge in historic Lexington. Joel Berman represents the third generation of merchants; his son, Gregg, who works with him, is 4th generation. Berman's began over a hundred years ago when Joel's grandfather drove a horse drawn wagon up and down Massachusetts Avenue, selling meat door to door. The

wagon eventually became a storefront, a full grocery/dry goods business and, after prohibition, a licensed liquor store. Joel relates, "The town fathers came to my grandfather and offered him the first available liquor license in town due to his kind consideration of, and generosity to, those who didn't have enough money to pay him during the depression."

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

It is with the utmost appreciation and gratitude that we announce the transfer of ownership of Berman’s Wine from Joel and Bonnie Berman to Alex Bluhm and his family (Molly, Lenni, and Milo). Joel and Bonnie worked their tails off for decades - over 60 years for Joel - to build this shop into the amazing space that it is today. Berman’s is an institution in greater Boston for fine wine and that is due to the passion and dedication that the Berman’s family have put into this shop. We are beyond grateful to them for creating this special place. Don’t worry though, Bonnie and Joel will both still be at the shop talking wine and food so be sure to stop by and say hello.

Alex has been with Berman’s for 15 years, starting as an Assistant Wine Manager and working his way up to General Manager and Wine Director of the shop for the last 12+ years. Alex is honored to be the steward of the amazing legacy that Joel and Bonnie have built and excited to maintain the same core of quality, passion, and service that Berman’s has become synonymous with.

Raise a glass in thanking Joel and Bonnie for all that they have accomplished and to congratulate Alex on this exciting transition. Cheers! 🥂 🍾
