Are any of my local friends interested in learning to teach wine classes the Wines With (an) Appeal way? I’m in need of another instructor!
Here’s the reason… I was hoping to post some really great news last week, but instead I received what I’ll call “mediocre” news. Some of you know, but most of you don’t, that my 2018 cancer has returned. It has metastasized from my small intestine to my lungs. I’m Stage 4 for two reasons. One, it isn’t currently curable and two, it metastasized. Stage 4 is still treatable, and I just completed 3 months of chemotherapy. We did a CT Scan last week to measure results. I was hoping for a reduction in the size of the nodules on my lungs, but what we’re seeing is that they simply maintained their previous size. That’s not horrible news, but it isn’t the news I wanted. It means 3 more months of the same chemotherapy, and trust me when I say, chemotherapy is NOT fun! For one thing (out of many I could list), it takes away my ability to get the true taste of food and WINE! Yikes!!
So, I am doing my very best to stay away from large groups of people indoors, meaning I'm not always able to teach wine classes. Our very good friend, Tammy Morrison, stepped up and said she would learn to teach wine classes and she has done a STELLAR job on the events she’s taught. She is basically the reason our doors are still open, and we love her all the more for it. But I’m getting requests from folks who have done events with us in the past, and it’s more than Tammy can handle on her own. Thus the request for at least one more instructor. The pay isn’t great, but it’s a really fun thing to do… and it gets you a discount on any wine you might want to purchase!
Please… I didn’t post this with the intent of trying to get sympathy. I’m really doing quite well! I’m just at a point where I really do need the help of another instructor. And, it’s easier to tell a lot of you about the cancer at once, rather than one at a time!! If anyone has an interest in teaching wine, let’s talk!!!
