The Buffalo Trace Distillery Prohibition Collection Series #2 is crafted to pay tribute to a time of trial and tribulation in America. During this tense time, only six distilleries were granted licenses to bottle whiskey for medicinal purposes. One of them is known today as the Buffalo Trace Distillery, the longest continually operating distillery in America. This curated collection comes with a batch of uniquely blended medium-bodied ci**rs you’ll only ever find in these highly limited samplers. The ci**rs for this collection were crafted specifically to pair perfectly with each of the individual whiskeys they’re named after, each coming in a 6.5” x 52 Toro. Just 750 numbered boxes of the Buffalo Trace Distillery Prohibition Collection Series #2 were made, so pick one up ASAP because you may never see these beauties again.

A multi-mashbill blend was created by combining full-bodied barrels with black cherry notes and oak-forward barrels with a nutty flavor profile. After these mingled, younger barrels with stone fruit and peppery highlights were added to the blend. Lastly, older barrels with notes of milk chocolate, cinnamon and pecans were carefully layered in. The result is an elegant bourbon that is opulent on the finish.

Kentucky: 9 years old

Corn: 79%
Rye: 16%
Malted Barley: 5%

Flavor Notes:

A satisfying nose of honey, fresh citrus, cherry jam, and snickerdoodles fuse with deeper notes of Kuromitsu and cinchona bark. Notes of caramel, chocolate and pecan pie warm up the palate before citrus zest and cherry cordial coalesce with a wave of pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon.

Nose
The aroma starts with honey, lime, tangerine, and apricot, then evolves into cherry jam, Marcona almonds and buttermilk pancakes. Notes of Snickerdoodle cookies, Kuromitsu, chocolate mint, and a touch of cinchona bark emerge followed by subtle notes of fresh citrus.

Palate

The palate starts out rich with notes of caramel, cherry cola, pecan pie and chocolate torte, followed by citrus zest and cherry cordial. Hints of pepper and cardamom flicker throughout the mid and back palate followed by a dusting of cacao, Saigon cinnamon and oranges.

Finish
Cinnamon, white pepper, citrus zest, and cherry.

With a splash of water: The aroma expands to Hufsie spiced tea loaf, mead, brown butter cookies, and cinnamon doughnuts. The palate becomes more decadent with notes of salted caramel latte, baklava, and streusel. The finish coats your mouth with notes of cinnamon orange coffee cake and a touch of oak.

The CAO Amazon Basin is a ground breaking project by General Ci**rs Corp (GCC). The giant to***co conglomerate was in search for a new and undiscovered to***co. With scouts around the world, they found the exotic to***co grown deep in the Amazon rain-forest. The Amazon Basin Indians were growing this to***co in the jungle for generations but it was recently discovered twenty years ago by GCC. This to***co is called “Braganca” and it goes through a very different cultivation and fermentation process than all other ci**rs. Due to the to***co’s rarity and the fact that it is harvested only ONCE every three years, only 1500-2000 boxes are produced annually depending on crop yield. **rs

Thomas S. Moore Extended Cask Finish Bourbon Finished In Cognac Casks - Born in 1853 to the son of an architect and master craftsman, Thomas S. Moore surmounted countless challenges in building his bourbon empire. Moore began making whiskey at what would become Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky in 1889. His distillery flourished, and Bardstown is now the Bourbon Capital of the World. Much like the Belle of Nelson, Moore’s original bourbon brands paying tribute to the rearing racehorse, his legacy lives on today through his namesake brands. Made at the very same distillery with mineral-rich water from the Tom Moore spring, this Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Cognac Casks honors Moore’s relentless ambition and his commitment to crafting bourbon whiskey that stands the test of time.

This version was curated by Forrie J. Smith, an actor known for playing the rugged ranchman Lloyd Pierce on the hit show Yellowstone. He is a tried and true cowboy with many years of rodeo experience under his belt.

This barrel proof bourbon was finished with a coffee infused American Oak spire. It’s bottled at 116 Proof.

Maighstir is born from a collaboration between Kentucky Owl® Master Blender, John Rhea and Scotch Whisky Master Blender, Maureen Robinson. Maighstir (pronounced May-stir) is a traditional Gaelic word meaning “Master”.

Kentucky Owl® Maighstir Edition has been awarded 96 points by Tasting Panel magazine.

Scent and flavor

Nose
There is a sweet sense of small grains particularly the malted barley, with a hint of sweet caramel. The balance of the small grains (wheat and barley) with the hint of sweet caramel/vanilla, gives the immediate sensation and question in your mind; is this a great bourbon, or is this a great Scotch? Honestly, smelling it will make you feel like you are in a Scotch Whisky warehouse.

Palate
Initially there is sense of warm spicy sweetness from the rye that you might expect from a great bourbon, but then the combination and soft tones from the wheat and barley give a pleasant calming warmness to the tongue. As it melts in the mouth the essence of orange and grapefruit linger behind the soft velvety feel in the mouth.

Finish
In the throat, the soft caramel/vanilla reappears and trails away with a long soft pleasant finish.
