Spent some time this short off season getting Mike Rosales #12 ready for next season. Went through the chassis, fixed some issues, redesigned a few things and made sure it was good to go. Then redesigned the cockpit, built a new deck, new roof, sail panels, nose and hood. About have it ready for Wild West Shootout.

Finished this little boat motor today and got it back to the customer. It’s a 460 Ford stroked to 557. Built the motor and installed a rail kit to replace the broken mounts.

New motor in our A mod for this season. We will practice it on Friday but may only run a couple of nights in it at the Wild West. Running 2 cars at one show is a ton of work.

We are looking to expand our capabilities to include machining late model Chevrolet blocks to allow for mechanical fuel pump use. With the availability of early model blocks becoming more difficult to find this provides an option to utilize more available late model blocks. Had a good practice last night, set up was good, ran good consistent laps. Went out for one of the sessions and car acting like it was loading up. Came in and adjusted the carb and thought it was good afterward. Watching video it had a weird sound to it. Found the problem this evening.

Interesting test results.

Baldwin Racing Engines compared the performance of crate engine fuel — 110 race fuel versus 91 octane pump gas with a Chevrolet 602 engine.

Had a little more bad luck last night in Roswell but overcame it. They decided to only run an A Main for the B mods based on season points so we decided to run with the a mods as well. Started outside pole in the heat and led a couple of laps and finished second behind Nicky Rivera. Made a couple changes, added some timing and got ready for the B mod main. The serpentine belt fell off going onto the track. I went ahead and started the main to take the green for a start and pulled into the infield. Come to find out the nut on the power steering pump fell off and the pulley stripped and fell off. We happened to have a spare in the trailer so we hauled butt to the pits, got the spare, found a nut that would work and went to fix the car in the infield during the rest of the b mod main. We were able to finish it before the end and I ran the last five laps or so. Finished around 7th but scored 11th because we were down so many laps. Pulled the car off the track and straight to staging for the A mod main. Tony pulled the 4 pill starting us outside row 2. Track was a rough one lane on the bottom and we held on for a 7th place finish with Josh Cain getting around us at the end for the highest 2 b mods with the A mods.

Have to say congrats to my good friend Mingo Jauregui for his championship at Alien.

First for me, intake gaskets glued on with weather stripping adhesive by another engine builder. Fun to get off even with a razor blade.

Wrapping up a Super Truck engine to go out the door tomorrow for The 2019 Vado Speedway Park claimer champion Richard Smith.

Started the day with a disassembled C4. Got it rebuilt and continued with installation and putting the transfer case back in. Over the next few days plan to repaint the cage and tidy it up then the rock crawler will be on the market.
