Our Cryptid of the Month is the Jersey Devil!

Born from a folk tale originating in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, the Jersey Devil is one of the oldest cryptids in the US. The legend originated from the tale of Deborah Leeds’ thirteenth child, cursed to be the devil. The child was born normally but due to the curse, was transformed into a creature with a goat’s head, hooves, and bat wings. This tale originated in the 1700s, but sightings of this creature continued long into the 1900s. Nowadays the Jersey Devil is an icon in pop culture and cryptozoology alike.
