Finally back in the states, we hopped on Highway 41 and headed south. We stopped at a convenience store and decided to pick up a bottle of wine that bore the same name as our route (well, they called it Highlands 41, but anyway). We cracked it at the hotel later that evening and were thoroughly impressed with how amazing it was! The aromas were pungent, fruity and sharp, with distinct aromas of mulberries and blackberries. The palate was surprisingly refreshing for a red, due to the high acidity and punchy flavors. Grippy tannins held down the finish, leaving us wishing we had bought two bottles instead of one!
