I CARPINI ROCCO DEI CARPINI PIEMONTE CAB SAUV 2011
Good Afternoon Austinite Oenophiles,
Here is a sublime offering from the foothills of the Alps in the north of Italy. Unlike the traditional Barolo and Barbaresco produced in the region made with Nebbiolo, this is a contemporary wine made with Cabernet Sauvignon that is a bit of a testament to Bordeaux and Napa Valley considering it's jammy fullness, velvety texture, and new French oak imparted notes ( like Super Tuscan, but a Super Piedmontese!)
Alas, the wine is still very much Italian with a certain texture and potency in tannic profile that is highly appealing, also enjoying bottle conditioning in the cellar being 13 years out from the vintage... adding a silky softness to the tannins.
Quite frankly, this wine effortlessly outshines hyped up California Cab such as Caymus and Opus One (and there is much less of it made!)
This wine is only produced in exceptional vintages sometimes as infrequently as once per decade! Supplies are limited so please order proactively.
We have fallen in love with this wine pouring it by the glass at Vespaio Ristorante (visit me there on Sat and Sun!) where some of you may have had a chance to experience it. This is currently an exclusive channel through which the wine is available for retail purchase at a competitive price.
Feel free to contact me directly for assistance by phone, text, or email. Thank you kindly.
