We had a lot of fun building this, I never put a shelf on a flag, but with steel pipe and fittings it was a breeze.

I was given one of the greatest opportunities that I will cherish forever. I was contacted by Dave Darden whom I met thru a Marine only page. Dave was looking for a custom rustic American Flag to raffle off at a golf tournament for a Veteran friend that was in poor health. Dave asked if I was willing to donate or he would pay me for it, I was quick to let Dave know that I would happily donate this flag for his tournament. Unfortunately while building this flag, Dave let me know that his close friend had passed. I decided at that moment to pay close attention to detail on this flag, I went to great links to sand, stain and carve the stars perfectly, I torched it in a way that would make the wood grain pop out. I did all of this because, even though I had never met Billy Goddard Jr. just the fact that he signed his name on the dotted line and was willing to die for his country, made me want to make this perfect because that is what he deserves, R.I.P. Billy Goddard Jr.
