As the store expanded and evolved, Ralph’s commitment to quality and customer service never wavered. The extended Tenuta family remained deeply involved, ensuring that the store’s family values and traditions continued to thrive.
Ralph’s leadership helped shape Tenuta’s into the beloved community staple it is today.

Tenuta’s Deli began on April 1, 1950, with John Tenuta’s dream of bringing authentic Italian flavors to Kenosha. His dedication and passion built more than just a store—it created a community.

His son, Ralph Tenuta, soon followed in his footsteps, becoming the face of the store and carrying on his father’s vision with unwavering pride and commitment. But the story doesn’t stop there. Aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Tenuta family devoted countless hours to the store, pouring their hearts into every detail and helping shape Tenuta’s Deli into the cherished landmark it is today.

Their hard work and love have kept John’s dream alive for generations, making Tenuta’s not just a business, but a family legacy. Today, we honor their dedication and the lasting impact they’ve had on our community.

: On April 1, 1950, John Tenuta and his wife, Lydia, opened Tenuta’s Delicatessen on the southwest corner of 52nd St. and 32nd Ave.—where it proudly stands to this day. Their dedication to quality and tradition laid the foundation for a Kenosha landmark.

John and Lydia’s only son, Ralph Tenuta, later became deeply involved in the business, eventually becoming the face of the store and continuing the family legacy.
