What is International Box Wine Day? This is a day to celebrate box wine and all of its ecological benefits.
Why is this day being celebrated or observed? We want to create International Box Wine Day to raise awareness of this burgeoning method of sustainable packaging, which is growing by leaps and bounds. Box wine has become the new preferred packaging for its economical benefits to both growers and consumers. It also has environmental benefits, since cardboard is much easier to recycle than glass.

South Africa celebrates International Cap Classique Day every year on September 1st and what better way for us in the States to close out our summer season.
🥂Cap Classique Fun Facts 🥂
This first Cap Classique, released in 1973 by Simonsig under the name Kaapse Vonkel (“Cape Sparkle”).
Cap Classique is made in the traditional method of sparkling wine production. This means that the second fermentation happens in the bottle, just like in Champagne.
Cap Classique sparkling does not have restrictions on what grapes are used to make the delicious bubbly stuff. At first there was a lot of Chenin Blanc, but now there is more South African sparkling wine made from the same grapes as Champagne; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.

The first thing that stands out is the absolutely gorgeous deep amber color with glints of garnet. The nose is rich with dried fruit, roasted nuts and honeycomb without any indication that this is a cask strength bourbon. The palate is slick and coats the mouth with sweet corn and baked apple flavors wrapped in a salty caramel. An absolutely fantastic showing from !
