Thank you Food & Wine for featuring our iconic Suze & the White Negroni in their article about “8 Impossibly Chic Cocktails to Channel Summer in the South of France”.

“First created by British bartender Wayne Collins in 2001 during VinExpo in Bordeaux, France, the White Negroni has become a tried-and-true option for those seeking a lighter, brighter riff on the classic Negroni. It has earned spots on menus at cult favorites like New York City’s Dante, the now-shuttered Pegu Club, and PDT, and is also served in a ready-to-drink format as part of Via Carota Craft Cocktails’ new bottled cocktail collection.

If you’ve ever needed convincing that Suze, a bright yellow French aperitif with citrusy, bittersweet gentian notes, deserves a place on your home bar, consider the White Negroni the perfect reason.”

Ingredients:
1/2 ounce Suze
1 ounce Lillet blanc
1 1/2 ounces gin

This Saturday is also National Rosé day, and we chose to begin this series presenting three Rosés from our BCI collection with the Grand Vin de Provence Rosa 32 “Levant”.

Rosa 32 focuses on winds (32 in total) that blow through Provence and contribute to the expression of the climate. These winds contribute to the air regeneration, modify the temperature and humidity of the aerial environment of the vines.

The “Levant” is a mild wind that blows in the Mediterranean and can be powerful when it collides with a change of relief. The Rosé Levant is a Grand Vin de Provence marked by balance and a temperate power of minerality.

The vine is worked according to the lunar calendar and the harvest is done at night. Pressing is carried out immediately, before a light but necessary settling. The wine goes into fermentation and will remain in the tank a minimum of 8 months before bottling. We filter our wines at the time of “tirage”.

This upcoming Saturday, June 8th is World Gin Day.

To prepare for this celebration, we will be sharing with you our amazing collection of Gin from France and the Netherlands, starting today with our unique Maison Gabriel Boudier Saffron Gin from Dijon, Burgundy.

The Saffron Gin recipe was found buried deep in Gabriel Boudier's book collection, dating back to the 19th Century.

Handcrafted and produced in a traditional pot still in small batches, Saffron Gin is made from nine fresh botanicals that include juniper, coriander, lemon, orange peel, angelica seeds, iris, fennel and saffron.

Saffron is surely the most expensive ingredient. The small purple flower Saffron Crocus gives rise to bright crimson stigmas. It takes roughly 150,000 flowers to yield 1 kilogram of dry saffron threads and an average of 40 hours of manual labor to pick the flowers.

The botanicals are macerated in wheat spirit before distillation, mirroring as much as possible the London Dry style. However, with Boudier's addition of saffron at the end of distillation, for color and exotic flavor profile, the end product is no longer a London Dry Gin.

This Saturday June 8th is World Gin Day.

To prepare for this occasion we will be sharing with you our amazing collection of Gin from France and the Netherlands starting with a unique Gabriel Boudier Saffron Gin from Dijon, Burgundy.

The Saffron Gin recipe was found buried deep in Gabriel Boudier’s book collection . This book heralds back to the 19th Century.

Hand crafted and produced in a traditional pot still in small batches, Saffron Gin is made from nine fresh botanicals that include juniper, coriander, lemon, orange peel, angelica seeds, iris, fennel and saffron .

Saffron is surely the most expensive ingredient . The small purple flower Saffron Crocus gives rise to bright crimson stigmas . It takes roughly 150,000 flowers to yield 1 kilogram of dry saffron threads and an average of 40 hours of manual labor to pick the flowers.

The botanicals are macerated in wheat spirit before distillation mirroring as much as possible the London Dry style . They believe that interactions between botanicals are unique when distilled all together, whereas the effect is lost through separate distillation.

However, with Boudier’s addition of saffron at the end of distillation, for color and exotic flavor profile, the end product is no longer a London Dry Gin.

Gabriel Boudier was established in 1874 and is known as one of the most prestigious licoristerie in the world.
