Sustainability Sunday: Save the Date for Go Green Highland Park's Native Garden Tour!

Habitat Highland Park, a project of Go Green Highland Park and the League of Women Voters of Highland Park/Highwood Illinois, with major funding support from the Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood, announces a second, free, annual Native Garden Tour to be held on Sunday July 21, noon to 4pm (rain date July 28)!

Take a self-guided tour to visit 5 sustainable native gardens in Highland Park. Get ideas about how to incorporate native plants into your garden, whether large or small. Register and obtain maps and information online at GoGreenHP.org.

Kids, get caught doing something good this summer and you might earn a sweet treat! City of Highland Park Police Officers are on the lookout for younger residents who are making good/safe choices, being helpful, kind, or respectful. Examples of behaviors that may earn kids a "Sweet Ticket" include:

- Wearing a helmet while riding their bike or skateboard
- Using the crosswalk rather than crossing mid-block
- Helping someone else
- Holding a door for someone
- Being respectful and kind

Sweet Tickets entitle the recipient to a free dessert at a participating Wendy's or McDonald's restaurant. Tickets may be redeemed at McDonald's (1988 First St.) for a free small frozen beverage or at Wendy's (2560 Skokie Valley Rd.) for a free small Frosty.
