This summer marks a milestone for us! 70 years ago, our grandparents Jane and Herman Dupont decided to take a chance—they closed their grocery store and deli in the Bronx and bought a little log cabin store in the summer community where they had vacationed since 1937–Highland Lakes! Both our store and Highland Lakes have grown and changed over the years, but now as then, we strive to provide you with the necessaries so you don’t have to go “off the mountain.” Thank you for 70 years of patronage, and remember:

Thursday July 27, 5 PM: please note that while we are officially open normal hours, Rt. 638/Highland Lakes Road is closed in the immediate vicinity of the store due to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred this afternoon and the subsequent need for police investigation. From now through Christmas, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will have a drop off box in our store for their “Toys for Tots” program, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year! These toys are distributed to children in need in our region. In 2021, Toys for Tots collected and distributed over 125,000 toys to more than 90,000 children in need right here in northern New Jersey! Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy, and Thank You!

Winter weather’s a-coming! Aside from the usual necessities (milk, bread, alcohol😆), the General also has lots of other winter storm necessities, like ice melter, snow shovels, ice choppers, snow brushes, windshield scrapers, electric heaters, firewood, fire starter, kerosene, wood pellets, and more!
