We have another new arrival! This week has been busy with new cheeses arriving almost daily. 🧀

Say hello to the newest blue cheese in our case. From Long Clawson we have the Shropshire Blue. This cheese has made the long journey over from England to us here in Hastings for your enjoyment. Slice it up for burgers, crumble it over a salad or just make it the star of your next cheese board.

Shropshire Blue is similar to Stilton, it is bold, buttery and slightly more creamy. If you love blue cheese this will become one of your new favorites.

New cheese arrivals, and welcome back Burrata! 🧀🧀

From holland the Honey Gouda is young, creamy with a very subtle honey flavor. This goat’s milk cheese is more sweet cream than salty. Pair it with some chocolate or viognier and enjoy the experience.

From Switzerland, this alpine cheese called Hornbacher has been compared to a buttery baked potato with the skins on. Earthy and grassy with a hint of carmalized onion. This is a bold cheese paired well with dessert wines or a rich Pinot Noir.

Welcome back burrata! This one goes quick. Creamy and buttery with bold flavors. Snack on it alone, or add some olive oil and basil for an amazing experience. Grab yours before it is gone.

We have new cheese arrivals, and the return of an old favorite! Come try our Westcomb cheddar from Somerset England, fresh hand dipped Ricotta or Burrata.

Westcomb cheddar is name protected, or has “ Protected Designation of Origin” (PDO) and can only come from Sonerset, Dorset, Devon or Cornwall in England. This raw milk, aged, bandage wrapped cheddar is very firm, but buttery, creamy and smooth in the palate with notes of hazelnuts, earthy broth, caramel and citrus. Great in sandwiches, melted over a burger or the star of any cheese board.

The term “ricotta,” Italian for “recooked” refers to the twice-heated curd that originally developed as a way to conserve the whey left over in the cheesemaking process. Recooking gives Calabro Fresh Ricotta a distinctive curdy texture and sweet, creamy flavor. Made using traditional techniques, this authentic Italian cheese is bright and milky, making it ideal for baking into lasagna or cheesecakes.

The Burrata is back! Burrata is unlike any other fresh cheese. It is like mozzarella filled with sweet cream. Drizzle a little olive oil on this and pair with basil and tomato and you have a gourmet treat, or simply enjoy this Burrata on its own and appreciate its amazing flavors.

We are excited to invite you to join us at The Cheese and Wine Shop on Tuesday, February 18th as we welcome Elia Germano of Ettore Germano Winery. Ettore Germano winery is located in the Piemonte region of Italy. The story of the Germano family is 4 generations of men in love with their vineyards. Currently two generations of Germano's run the winery, Sergio and Elia. (pictured below) We will hear Elia talk about all things Ettore Germano Winery, his journey in the wine industry and of course we will taste the wines!

Please join us on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:00pm for our conversation with Elia. We will taste 5 of their wines during the conversation, with all 5 available for purchase. Each wine will be paired with a cheese for added enjoyment. As a bonus, if you like the wines you taste, he will be bringing 2 more available for purchase. Ettore Germano specializes in Barolo's but we will also taste some of their white wines. Barolos tend to be on the higher side of the price spectrum, so this is a great opportunity to taste some fantastic wines, not usually offered by the glass.

New wines, who dis?

Yes!! New wines, that’s who🍷

From California, “Love You Bunches” is 100% Sangiovese from the Stolpman winery. Bold and full of big red fruit. Perfect for Valentine’s Day ❤️

From Spain, “Fraga do Corvo” is 100% mencia. This wine displays both fruit and earthy notes with bold bing cherry, black raspberry and blackberry flavors meeting floral and minerality. Smooth soft tannins end in a very elegant finish.

Also from Spain, the Vispius. Vispius in Spanish means fox, and this foxy wine will surprise and delight. Made from Tempranillo and Garnacha you will get the raspberry fruits from the Garnacha and the hints of leather, spice and soft tannins from the Tempranillo.

From Italy, the “Roma Rosso” is a full bodied blend of Montepulciano and Syrah. Bold and elegant with spice, red and black fruits and a balanced tannic structure.

Lastly from Serbia, the “Black Stallion.” This sweet red blend contains Vranac, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat Hamburg, Blaufrankisch and Gamay. A ruby red semi-sweet red that would be the perfect companion to a spicy BBQ meal.
