As our very loyal and much appreciated customers, friends and family know, we don’t post much on social media or have a large media presence in that regard. Right or wrong, we don’t spend much time on these areas as we focus so much time in our business face-to-face with those who matter so much.

Today on the other hand, we felt it was appropriate.

We woke up this morning like any typical Monday… get ready for another fun-filled day full of challenges and chuckles at the Village Tie Up and Harrison General Store. We ultimately, realized it was September 29th.

The significance? On this day a mere 15 years ago, our family purchased the Village Tie Up and started this incredible adventure. Today, we celebrate that 15 years and are thankful for so many things.

We are thankful for the many friends we’ve made in this beautiful small town. Harrison is filled with many great people who would give you the shirt off their back in times of need. We are proud to own a business in a small town with great people that we believe in.

We are thankful for some of the most dedicated and incredible employees that any business could ever have hoped for as we routinely make mention that our employees smiling faces and effort are what have made and continue to make the Village Tie Up what it is. It’s hard to imagine that some of our employees were not even born when we bought this business while others met here as co-workers and just recently married. No... we do not take credit for match-making in that regard.

We are thankful for our family members that sacrifice so much, knowing that the vast majority of the time the only chance they have of spending time with us is to either visit us at one of our businesses, or even better yet… to work alongside us.

We are truly thankful for our kids Colby, Jackson and Emma who have sacrificed more than most realize, including us. Our kids not only grew up at the Tie Up, they worked nearly every day since we started this adventure giving up precious family time. Furthermore, any down time was inevitably spent listening to their parents talking about the challenges and stories of the Village Tie Up, Harrison General Store or the Long Lake Creamery. Small business is hard as most will attest to and a family owned business is just that... family.

Last but not least and most importantly, we thank our loyal customers of the Village Tie Up, Harrison General Store and Long Lake Creamery who are the lifeblood of this small, humble, fixture of Harrison. We have always maintained that we are merely caretakers for what is considered to be the “Hub of Harrison”. The Village Tie Up was here long before us and will hopefully be here long after our time. The fact that this business has continued to succeed and thrive through various owners is a testament to the local and seasonal customers that consider this “home” just as we do.

We thank you all and we celebrate 15 years with you. We only wish this day hadn’t snuck up on us as it did!

Are we done? Not by a long shot. While the struggles can be real as anyone in small business recognizes… the reality is we have no regrets and look forward with great excitement for what is to come. To that end, we can only say… “stay tuned”.

Once again, we are humbled by your support of this small business and offer a sincere thank you from all of our family.

Cheers.

Brian & Tracy Williams

If CMP does it, we thought we should too... our version as follows.

Preparations for Hurricane Lee continue...

The Village Tie Up continues to prepare for impacts from Hurricane Lee, which will arrive in Maine overnight on Friday and continue through the day on Saturday. Our staff are continuously updating our company's "storm" team (otherwise known as our kitchen staff) with the latest forecast, and Maine has issued a declaration of emergency, stating sustained high winds, pounding surf, and heavy rains which could result in long wait times for pizza and steak and cheese subs.

How Does the VTU Prepare?

Late last week, the VTU began preparing for the impacts of Hurricane Lee by making a schedule, cleaning all of our dishes, ordering product from our vendors and assessing the availability/quantity of our Village Tie Up approved storm packs (pizza, sandwiches, milk, beer, bread, fireball, etc.).

We then adjusted the ballast (with emergency 12 packs of Sebago Haze and Frye's Leap) on the Tie Up Tug to ensure the Tug sits on Long Lake prepared for whatever Lee has in store.

We at the Village Tie Up stand ready and prepared for Hurricane Lee.

Yes, we do treat serious situations with humor. Smiles make days better. We wish nothing but the best for those that may be impacted by Hurricane Lee.
