The old Wonderod resto-mod is complete! Time for it to find a new home! It was originally rated for DT6, but it slings WF8 beautifully! I kept the original downlocking seat and factory furrules, but everything else is updated! It is definitely a toss towards nostalgia, but someone should enjoy it!

It will be a modern take on the classic fiberglass fly rod! It is going to be hard to let it go, but the stable is full!

9ft 7wt, 2pc
This rod was built mainly with bass in mind. Tossing flies for bass can be tough, and sometimes you need a tougher rod that can take the abuse. This one should do nicely!

Operation "Resto-glass X2" is complete! They started out rough and in pieces. I strived to maintain the original spirit of the rods. I left what was left of the original labels, as well as sticking with the traditional guide spacing. I did update the materials and ring size a bit.
-I started by stripping the solid wood grips, and refinished them with several hand-rubbed coats of teak oil, followed by 3 coats of spar urethane.
-replaced rotten rubber butt caps with modern eva foam
-I stripped the blanks down to bare fiberglass. I left the existing markings in place and finished with 3 coats of spar urethane.
-I updated the guides with CRB SSR double-foot guides that are lighter yet stronger than what would have originally come on the rod.
-Merlot colored wraps with pewter accents in place of the original mylar wraps.

2 vintage solid glass rods up for restoration! Time nor a previous owner had been kind to them. Two piece rods that originally separated at the butt section. Full resto is underway!

Got away for some river therapy yesterday. Got to put some healthy bends in the rods. The fish to hand were not plentiful but we saw some dinosaurs out there!

Here a few shots of a rebuild I just "wrapped up."
8'6, 5wt, 4pc.
She had taken quite a beating over the years and caught A LOT of trout. I stripped it all the way down to the blank. I turned a new grip from mixed burl and 1/4in natural cork. The grip is light with texture that is just right. I cleaned up the original guides after removing them. Single foot ti-chome guides with matching stripper and tip top.

It has been a while, but I am officially back up and rolling. I have missed building rods that bring joy to those who use them! I will be limiting production to 1 rod per month, so if there is anything I can do for you let me know. Stay tuned for upcoming pics of what has been in the works over the past few weeks.

Did someone say Christmas? father-son pair of rods finished just in time for the big day. One 7 Foot blend crankbait and spinnerbait casting rod. The other is a 7-foot spin jig set up. Some Custom Grips and such to boot. Both blanks are made by mhx. I love their stuff.
