Next Friday and Saturday, April 5th and 6th, we are super excited to be hosting four tastings in two days led my Michael Zarkesh (Oaxaca, MX) who is a certified beer judge, acclaimed fermentation professional and well known agave spirits aficionado who lives in the mezcal motherland of Oaxaca, Mexico. He’s also a Colorado local!

Michael will be leading one free public tasting and three private RSVP tastings that will be a fund raiser for the renowned mezcal making community of Logoche, Miahuatlan, Mexico, where Michael has close friends and colleagues who could use our financial support. Event details below. 21+

Dispatches from Oaxaca. On a recent visit to the palenque of Paula and Hermongenes and their son Jorge in the village of Logoche, Miahuatlan, the place was in full swing with distilling and fermentation aspects underway alongside a recent harvest of Espadin piñas being delivered too. is an incredible brand who for over a decade has worked exclusively with producers from this small village. It’s an immense amount of work from these initial stages of production to the final product on the shelf, and it’s our honor as retailers to bring you these small batch traditional mezcals. Many of the mezcal brands we carry here at Destilados de Agave at Golden Liquors we have had the chance to visit, and recently our man in Oaxaca (Tony White of www.almasviejasoax.com) visited the renowned palenque of Mezcal Macurichos in Santiago Matatlan, OAX. These are various photos from the family-ran distillery that has been operating here for over 70 years and we are honored to be able to carry and sell such high quality agave spirits to our appreciative customers like you here in Golden, CO. Tonight is the night for the Mezcal Vago at Destilados de Agave at Golden Liquors, with the brand's co-founder Dylan Sloan leading the private, guided, one-hour tasting. The 5-6pm tasting is ALL FULL, but you can still get a seat for the 6-7pm tasting. Just pop into the shop before 6pm and we'll get ya a seat.
