Free Tasting Today at Beekman Wines!!!
Roseline Rosé Prestige, Côtes de Provence, 2023 ($18.49) - Château Sainte Roseline is one of our favorite Provençal estates and was listed in the 1955 classification that recognized the best estates. The property was purchased in 1994 by Bernard Teillaud and is currently run by his daughter, Aurélie Bertin Teillaud. The Prestige bottling comes in a beautiful, “glass”-stoppered bottle and is a blend of 55% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, and 10% Syrah. It’s pale and coppery in color, very pretty, and fresh with plenty of acidity to complement the lively fruitiness.
Chateau Puy Lestage, Montagne St.-Emilion, 2022 ($23.99) - This property lies just outside St.-Emilion on a limestone plateau with some hills. Its 20 acres of vineyards are deeply rooted in a clay-limestone soil. Only the best plots are harvested for this cuvée. It has an intense garnet color and an elegant bouquet of blackcurrant and blackberry. Although still young, the similar palate offers freshness and balance with tannins that are harmonious, relatively soft, and well-integrated. The blend is 80% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Cabernet Franc.

Free Wine Tasting at Beekman Wines!!!
Constance Rose, 2023 ($17.99) - I just don’t understand why producers/marketers often make decisions without clearing it with us first! The folks at Maison Lapin in Provence labeled their lovely rosé under the brand name “Constance” for many years. It sold quite well for us. Then last year, they decided to change the label to reflect the name of the winery. That’s fine, but it confused fans of Constance who were skeptical when we told them that Maison Lapin was the same wine. Now the winery is back to the Constance label. The wine, of course, is just as good, and it’s one of our favorites. Bright, balanced, moderately priced, and devoid of bubblegum character (the result of using a particular yeast), it is a blend of 45% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 21% Syrah, and 9% Carignan grown on chalky hills. The resulting wine is typically pale in color and has delicate notes of strawberry, raspberry, and peach.
Château Côte de Baleau, St.-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, 2020 ($29.99) - Château Côte de Baleau is a small property situated just outside of the village of St. Emilion on limestone and sand soils, not far from Château Beau-Sejour Becot. Of the vineyard’s 17 hectares, 14 are classified and were upgraded to Grand Cru Classé status (it’s really unusual to find one at this price!) in the reclassification of 2012. Since 1998, a slow program of replanting has been taking place with the new vines being planted to a higher density of 8,500 per hectare. Following a 4-day cold soak at 50 F, the fruit is fermented in stainless steel tanks for a 30-day maceration period, then pressed and aged in French oak barrels for up to 18 months before bottling. Serve at 60 degrees Fahrenheit with all types of classic meat dishes: veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, or roast chicken.

This week we will be tasting two California and one Chilean wine. They are delicious, well-priced, and worth your time. Hope to see you on Saturday.
Crū Winery SLH Chardonnay Smith & Lindley Vineyard, Santa Lucia Highlands, 2021 ($19.99) - Crū Winery purchases grapes from vineyards throughout California’s Central Coast. This is a lovely representation of Chardonnay from the cool Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. It is low-key but beautifully balanced at a very modest 13.5% alcohol with tropical notes in addition to honeysuckle, pear, and citrus. Aged for 13 months in (presumably used) French oak, it shows the mellowness of wood aging without much oak flavor. Very pretty.
 .
Ungrafted Cabernet Sauvignon, Isla de Maipo-Chile, 2020 ($19.99) - Chile offers more Cabernet value than northern California, but Chilean Cabs often feature a green, vegetal component as if they were Cabernet Franc, not Cab Sauvignon. This wine comes from a special vineyard on the Isla de Maipo, an island within the Maipo River that was an old riverbed and now has riverbed gravel similar to the west bank of Bordeaux. The vines here are literally ungrafted (on original rootstock) and average 25-30 years of age. Vinous: 91 “Light purple in hue, the mild nose offers blackcurrant and cherry soft piracine notes. Terse with polished, slightly reactive, finely-grained tannins, and a flavorful, juicy finish. A nuanced and lively style.”
 .
Topophilia Red Blend, Sonoma, 2019 (reg: $33.99; sale: $29.99) – This very special blend comes from Jess Wade. Jess farms 10 acres of Pinot Noir in Carneros-Sonoma, a smaller vineyard in France, and is in the process of planting some Grenache. He also purchases grapes for some wines that he makes, such as this wonderful blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Zinfandel. Topophilia means “A love of place.” This is a terrific wine! Wine Enthusiast: 92 “Mouthfilling, appetizing, and food-friendly, this fresh, jammy blend of Merlot and Zinfandel shows exuberant blackberry and black cherry flavors lifted by light tannins and some tangy acidity.”

This week we will be tasting two terrific wines, a newly released, delicious French Chablis and an outstanding (and limited) Napa Cabernet. Come taste them any time that works for you.
Domaine Vocoret & Fils Chablis, 2022 ($33.99) - The luscious 2018 Vocoret is now replaced by the equally wonderful 2022. Aged only in stainless steel, it surprisingly has the complexity and some of the Chardonnay flavor characteristics that are often enhanced by oak aging. This is a terrific white Burgundy, bursting with aromas and flavors of white flowers, green apples, and fresh pastry. It’s medium-bodied, succulent, and open-knit with soft acids and a clean finish. Like the 2018, it should age nicely. Founded by Edouard Vocoret in 1870, the Domaine is now in its 4th generation. Cousins Jérôme, Patrice, and Sylvain Vocoret work the 99-acre estate, which includes 6 premier cru and 4 grand cru plots.
Fiancetto Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, 2021 ($44.99) - Ry and Britt Richards are a power couple in the Napa wine world. Both are superstar winemakers. Ry is the assistant winemaker (to Phillip Titus) at Chappellet, one of Napa’s iconic estates. Britt started out at Jordan and Keller Estate before settling down at Peter Michael Winery! Because of their positions, they have great relationships with many of Napa’s finest vineyards and are able to purchase excess grapes from very prestigious sources to make small lots of wine under this Fiancetto label. If these lots of wine bore the nationally branded label they were intended for, they would sell for twice the price or more. This is a decidedly no-frills side operation. No fancy tasting room here. The 2021 consists of only 400 cases. The grapes come from valley-floor vineyards in Oak Knoll, Rutherford, and St. Helena. It’s a superb blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot aged 18 months in 10% new oak. This is a big and powerful Cab, perfect for a juicy steak or just by itself. Drink now for the incredible primary fruit or cellar for the next 3-5 years. Limited

This Saturday we have a special wine tasting planned with a special guest.
DAVID ROSSI, the winemaker of CLOISONNÉ, ON POINT, FULCRUM, AND MADMAN will be in the store to taste four of his wonderful wines with us. The wines will be available for tasting all day, but David will be in the store BETWEEN 1:00 AND 3:30.
Fulcrum Dry Gewürtztraminer, Ferrington Vineyard-Anderson Valley, 2022 ($19.69) - Gewürztraminer is a fragrant but naturally low-acid grape. With its warm climate, most California versions are sweet, alcoholic, and flabby (low acid). David gets it right with only 5 g/l sugar (the threshold at which most people can just begin to detect any sweetness) and 13.2% alcohol. He adds a little acid to the must as is done in Alsace and Germany.
On Point Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 2021 ($34.99) – David uses only the best barrels for his single-vineyard Fulcrum Pinots. The remaining barrels, which are still awfully good, go into this On Point label. The wine is a significant step up from the already-delicious Cloisonné Pinot and almost as good as the Fulcrum, making it the value sweet spot.
Fulcrum Pinot Noir “Brousseau Vineyard,” Chalone Appellation-Monterey, 2019 ($54.99) – Tucked into the Gavilan mountain range east of the Santa Lucia Highlands, Brosseau is a spectacular vineyard for Pinot Noir. It is certified ORGANIC and consistently yields less than 2 tons per acre of dark, exceptionally concentrated fruit. The vineyard’s climate and limestone, decomposed granite, and volcanic rock soils impart a clear minerality to the wines as well as a firm, tannic backbone.
Fulcrum ZSM Proprietary Blend, Sonoma, 2020 ($34.99) - This sustainably-farmed proprietary red blend is David's take on The Prisoner. It delivers the yummy factor in droves! It's made from 60% Zinfandel, 23% Syrah, and 17% Malbec aged 20 months in oak. Deep purple in the glass, it has a silky texture and balance typical of David’s wines. The full fruit expression of berry and cherry with spicy-brambly notes is framed by modest acidity and tannin

FREE Tasting Today at Beekman Wines!! Come on by to try two fantastic wines!!
Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough-New Zealand, 2022 ($19.99) - Rapaura Springs winery is owned by two Kiwi families, the Neylons and the Wiffins, who bought prime vineyard land in 1985. The grapes for the reserve bottling are grown in the Dillons Point and Wairau sub-regions, known for expressive aromatics and ripe fruit flavor. They believe these sites grow the best Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. Their winery is the only facility in this sub-region, meaning the grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, minimizing skin contact and capturing all the expressive aromatics and fruit flavor without bitter phenolics. After pressing, the juice is settled and then cool fermented in stainless steel with a variety of yeast strains to provide palate weight and complexity.
90+ Cellars Napa Cabernet Lot 94, 2021 ($26.99) - It’s very likely that we will soon be saying goodbye to Napa Cabernets under $30. Maybe even under $40! The price of Napa Cab grapes is simply out of control. The latest industry figures show that the average price wineries paid Napa vineyards for Cabernet grapes was $6,847.19 per ton in 2022, up 12.2% from 2021. The general rule of thumb is that with all the other costs of making a fine wine, a good estimate of the retail price per bottle can be obtained by dividing the price of the grapes per ton by 100. By that estimate, the “average” price of a Napa Cab for 2022 will be $68! The bunches were de-stemmed, crushed, and fermented in stainless steel with daily pump-over to extract color and flavor from the skins. Aging was 12 months in a combination of small barrels and “vats.” The resulting wine shows Napa’s lavish aromas of black currant, mocha, and savory herbs with trailing notes of to***co leaf and vanilla. The texture is full and well-rounded with soft edges and a lively dose of bright cherry fruit leading to a smooth finish, especially with some airing. It’s a wine that can be enjoyed now or given a few years of aging. When the idea of $26 Napa Cab will seem quaint.

Free Wine Tasting at Beekman Wines!!! Stop on by to sample some excellent wines!!
Chad Merlot Incline, Sonoma Mountain, 2018 ($23.99) - New Chad wines appear whenever Chad can find the right situation. He makes a low offer to a winery that has excess wine. If they agree, he offers their wine under his label at roughly half the price. If not, he moves on. This batch replaces the Red Blend (mostly Merlot) which sold slowly at first but then developed a following as customers discovered it. The grapes come for this wine come from a south-facing block of a famous vineyard at an 18-degree incline along the Mayacamas Mountain. The wine displays rich, layered notes of cassis, subtle red fruit, eucalyptus, baking spice, and well-integrated oak. With firm but ripe tannins, it can pair beautifully with heartier fare. Very tasty and worth much more! Merlot continues to offer good value simply because it is less popular than Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
Château de Boursault Brut Tradition Non-Vintage ($39.99) – This is not just any château. It is a spectacular Neo-Renaissance-style edifice located 10 km west of Epernay and built on the ruins of a fortified castle that belonged to the Barons de Boursault. It resembles the famous Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley and boasts 365 doors and windows. Boursault became one of the most popular places in the region: memorable gatherings and famous dinners where Champagne flowed with Madame Clicquot, the “Queen of Reims,” at the center of the high society of Champagne. She also received customers at these lavish ceremonies. Madame Cliquot retired to Château de Boursault at age 64 and died at the age of 89. During World Wars I and II, the château was converted into a military hospital, taking in wounded American soldiers from the famous 101st airborne division in 1945. Today, the château is no longer affiliated with V***e Cliquot, but it is surrounded by vineyards that provide nearly all of its grapes. This is a classic Champagne that spent 3 years on the yeast. Inexpensive but delicious.

Another wet Saturday, but that’s all the more reason to come taste two delicious wines at Beekmans.

Michel Thomas Sancerre Sil’Ex, 2022 ($31.99) - This is only slightly more expensive than most Sancerres today, but it is a step above. The total production is about 10,000-12,000 cases per year. At Egrots is a little hamlet in Sury en Vaux, about 4 km from Sancerre. Michel and Laurent Thomas have 42 acres of vineyards in 40 different parcels in four different villages, planted on three different types of soil, 40% Terre Blanche-Argilo-Calcaire, 40% Caillottes-calcaire, and 20% Le Roc-Silex. The soil determines the nature of the wine. High limestone content produces fruitier wines suited to early drinking. Soil with more clay produces wines with a deeper texture that allows them to be laid down for some time. Sil’Ex, or Silex, is the hardest soil and produces a wine rich in minerals and fruity aromas that can be laid down for many years. The siliceous soil imparts pleasant notes of fruit and a dry, smoky, mineral flavor. This wine is their smallest cuvée with only 400 cases made annually. It is produced using traditional methods (no wood) and without filtration. It’s an intensely aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with great concentration and excellent balance. It has a very attractive aroma of fresh herbs and flavors of citrus, ripe gooseberry, apple, and a hint of gunflint.

Three Wine Company Old Vine Field Blend, Contra Costa County, 2019 ($23.99) - Matt Cline worked with his brother as winemaker and creative director (whatever that is) at Cline Cellars and later as assistant winemaker at Conn Creek. After Cline Cellars was sold, Matt started a winery called Trinitas Cellars with his wife, Erin, where he produced old-vine Zinfandel, Mataro, and Petite Sirah. He then sold Trinitas and launched Three Wine Company. We have carried several TWC Zins. This is a field blend, where several varietals are grown and harvested together. It shows great intensity of black fruit with hints of strawberry. Really well done!

The weather is a bit drab, but it’s worth a trip down to Beekman Wines for a FREE wine tasting today!!!
Roagna Langhe Blanco, 2021 ($34.99) - Piemonte, Italy’s Langhe district is best known for Barolo and Barbaresco. Surprisingly, they also grow a little Chardonnay, and this is one of the best values of what are rare and typically expensive wines. Even more unusual, this is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Nebbiolo. Although this is a relatively small amount of Nebbiolo, and those grapes are fermented without skin contact, the result is a white wine with just enough tannin to warrant a few years of aging. After fermentation, the Chardonnay and Nebbiolo wines are blended together and then aged in Slovenian casks. Most of the fruit is from Luca’s parcels in Pira and Rocche di Castiglione in Barolo, and the rest is from his holdings in Barbaresco. Tiny production, very limited. We carry some of Roagna’s less expensive reds, too.
Domaine Gérard Millet Sancerre Rouge, Loire, 2020 ($28.99) - The cool Sancerre district is best known for its whites (Sauvignon Blanc), but 20% of its plantings are Pinot Noir, which is used for both red and rosé wines. The reds are sometimes lean and underripe, but when fully ripened they can be delicious, as is this one. It shows black cherry, licorice, leather, mushroom, forest floor, and earth on the nose. Burgundian in style is also lifted by a whiff of cranberry and wild strawberry. Lush and fine-grained; the musky red currant and spice flavors are supported by perfectly integrated acidity. Finishes with enticing fruit and acidic lift. Situated in the prestigious village of Bué, the Millet family has been making wine for over five generations. The Domaine is now run by Gérard and Isabelle, along with their son Steve. The estate covers 60 acres of vineyards, 80% in the Sancerre appellation (with a lot of limestone) and 20% in Menetou-Salon.

Today we are tasting a Portugese white, a German red (yes, you read that correctly), and a California Cabernet. Come taste them any time!
Anselmo Mendes Albariño Contacto, Portugal, 2020 ($19.99) - Wine Advocate (Mark Squires): 89+ “The 2020 Alvarinho Contacto comes in at 12.6% alcohol, 7.5 grams of total acidity and 1.5 grams of residual sugar. This is from Quinta da Torre (in Monção) and made with a short skin maceration for 12 hours at 12 degrees Celsius. This year it’s all about the acidity. There’s a touch of green to go with a fair bit of power. There’s no rush, as it should age well. 2021-2032.” Try pairing it with seafood dishes like fish tacos, ceviche, seafood risotto, oysters, and mussels. Also grilled artichokes and pesto sauces.
Weingut Friedrich Becker Pinot Noir, Pfalz-Germany, 2019 ($22.99) – With global warming, Germany may be the future of Pinot Noir! Actually Germans have been growing Pinot Noir (locally called Spätburgunder) since it was brought there, probably by Cistercian monks from Burgundy in the 14th century. Pinot Noir does best in cool climates, but until recently most of Germany was too cool. As conditions have warmed, it has become easier to ripen the grape in this, the most northern commercial grape growing area in the world. Pinot Noir cultivation in Germany has grown to almost 12,000 hectares, making Germany the 3rd largest Pinot Noir producer in the world!
Stuhlmuller Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley, 2015 ($39.99) – Founded in 1982 and still family owned, this winery sits right next to Jordan outside of Healdsburg. Although the 2015 received only a respectable (89-point) rating from the Wine Advocate, the wine has aged well, lost its tannic load, and is drinking very nicely now. “Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with scents of freshly crushed blackberries, wild blueberries and redcurrants with wafts of chocolate mints, pencil shavings, bay leaves and lavender. Medium-bodied, elegantly styled and with wonderful freshness in the mouth, it has a solid frame of chewy tannins and compelling herbal lift on the finish. Drink 2018-27”

This week we will be tasting two French and one Italian wine. Come join us any time on Saturday!
Domaine Franz Chagnoleau Mâcon Clos St. Pancras, 2021 ($26.99) - This small estate is run by two very talented winemakers, Frantz Chagnoleau and his wife, Caroline Gon. Their vineyards have been certified organic since 2013. This wine comes from hand-harvested 30+ year-old vines on the Montagne de Clessé near Viré. The windy, east-facing vineyard is on light limestone soil with small stones at an altitude of 785 feet. The wine is fermented (indigenous yeast) and aged in large, used French oak (foudre). Next week we’ll taste a somewhat older white Burgundy to see the difference.
Icardi Barbera d’Asti “Tabaren,” 2020 ($16.99) - Icardi is a wonderful Barbaresco and Barolo producer. Like most, they also make Barbera as a less expensive, everyday wine. Barbera has historically been known for high acidity and rusticity. The rusticity has often been tamed, as it is in this case, but the acidity is what makes these wines go so well with food. This is a fine, inexpensive version. Unlike their Surì di Mù Barbera d’Alba, this was fermented and aged in stainless steel and has an intense fruity nose that features morello cherries. The fruit is quite ripe, and the wine is one of the few unoaked reds that work well. Certified organic!
Jean-Luc Baldès Cahors “Malbec du Clos,” 2018 ($16.99) - Most closely associated with Argentina, the Malbec grape actually originated in south-west France, where it is a minor grape in Bordeaux but the main grape in Cahors. It is often blended with Merlot and Tannat (up to 30%), but this introductory example is 100% Malbec. It’s a very nice wine, but it’s not a 95-pointer. Decanter World Wine Awards: 95 “Concentrated nose of hedgerow fruit and violets. Intense on the palate with dark fruit and big, ripe tannins. Finishes long with a backbone of acidity.”

Another FREE WINE tasting. Come taste them any time on today!
Höpler Grüner Veltliner, Burgenland-Austria, 2020, ($17.85) - Light and crisp with attractive notes of white pepper, peach, and apple. Joel made a special point of visiting the winery during his trip to Austria this past November. Owner/winemaker Christof Höpler spent over an hour showing him around and tasting wines. Höpler is famous for making the house wines for the Trapp Family Lodge (of Sound of Music fame) and counts the Vienna State Opera Ball, Jamie Oliver, Thomas Keller (French Laundry, Yountville), Boby Flay (Mesa Grill, NY), Petri Lukkarinen (Olo, Helsinki), Gordon Ramsay, and Marco Pierre White among his more prestigious customers. AND Beekman!
Ancient Peaks Zinfandel, Paso Robles, 2018 ($20.99) - Ancient Peaks Winery is located in Santa Margarita (no relation to the Pinot Grigio. Thank goodness 😂)at Paso Roble’s southern border. This succulent Zinfandel makes an immediate statement with bright, jammy aromas of raspberry, cinnamon spice and vanilla cream. Luscious, rounded flavors of red cherry, raspberry, and blackberry unfold underpinned by deeper hints of roast coffee and black pepper. Smooth, juicy acidity brings impressive balance to the elegant finish. The name Ancient Peaks refers to the Santa Lucia mountain peaks that overlook the vineyards.
Dominio de Pingus Psi, Ribera del Duero, 2018 ($34.99) – Pingus is one of Spain's best wineries. Located in Ribera del Duero, its top wine sells for about $1000 per bottle! With its reputation, it is able to buy grapes to make this blockbuster but much less expensive wine. Wine Advocate: 94! They used 12% Garnacha and 2% other grapes, including whites that are found intermixed with the Tinta del País/Tempranillo in the old vineyards. Garnacha adds freshness, and the wine shows it—the character of the grape comes through in the blend. The color is quite light, bright and lively, the nose perfumed, floral, and elegant. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins, and it is well balanced and beautifully textured. It’s elegant more than powerful but full of energy. This is without a doubt the finest PSI to date! 360,000 bottles produced. Drink 2020-26

Happy March! Let’s taste some wine!
Come in any time today to taste open of these delicious wines.
Chamisal Stainless (Unoaked) Chardonnay, San Luis Obispo County, 2021 ($19.99) - Located in the cool Edna Valley AVA and founded in 1973, Chamisal Vineyards is located five miles from the Pacific Ocean, just outside San Luis Obispo on California’s Central Coast. With 82 acres, they specialize in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Some unoaked California Chards are lean and mean, but this is a balanced, generous Chardonnay aged in stainless steel tanks. It’s clean, bright, refreshing, and bursts with aromas of honeysuckle, green apple, and hints of lime zest. Lifted notes of citrus and white peach on the palate mingle with a hint of salinity that balances with a crisp acidity, leading a long and vibrant finish.
Filodivino Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, 2018 ($16.99) - It takes its name (lacrima means “tears”) from the droplets of juice which drip from the bunches when the berries are ripe. About 15 percent of this wine undergoes carbonic fermentation. The rest is crushed, sees one week of maceration, and is fermented in stainless steel tanks followed by 6 months of aging on the lees in tanks. The result is a distinctive but charming wine that shows intense color with tons of violet, rose hip, and wild berries on the nose and palate. It is spicy and easy going with a good balance between its aromatics and palate. A bit Gamay-like, it is best served cool. Pair it with grilled chicken, fresh cheese, pasta, or Brodetto (a traditional fish soup of the La Marche region).
Jesus Yllera Crianza, Ribera del Duero - Spain, 2015 ($25.99) - This blend of 75% Tempranillo, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Merlot is a powerful, dense, and rich wine with velvety tannins and elegance that belies its size. It is the first vintage of this Spanish project. Wine Advocate (Luis Gutiérrez): 90 $30-35 “Fermented with neutral yeasts and matured in 50/50 new and second use French and American oak barrels for 12 months. It has a floral nose and generous oak.” A winery to watch!

FREE WINE TASTING Today at Beekman Wines!!
Madame V***e Point Bourgogne Blanc, 2020 ($19.99) – France has a long history of wineries run by a widow (v***e). The Bourgogne Blanc is a blend of 50% Mâcon with roughly equal parts Haut Côtes de Beaune and Haut Côtes de Nuits. It spends 12 months in 10% new oak and has a nice round texture. It’s a great value.
Carol Shelton Wild Thing Old Vine Zinfandel, 2019 ($21.99) - Wild Thing Zin comes from 60+-year old vines, mostly from the Cox Vineyard in Mendocino. The blend is 76% Zinfandel, 10% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah, plus Malbec, Grenache Noir, & Cab. Wine Spectator: 91 “A juicy bomb of fruit, this red is also well-structured, with lively raspberry, toasty spice and roasted sage flavors that linger on a snappy finish. Drink now through 2028.”
Domaine de Clayou Coteaux de Layon, 2021 ($22.99) - Sweet dessert wines are not as popular as they used to be. The best known ones, Ports and Sauternes, aren’t selling nearly as well as they did 5-10 years ago. With fewer people drinking them, that means that there’s more available for the rest of us who love them! This Loire Valley example is stunning and a phenomenal value. It's 100% Chenin Blanc from Anjou in the Loire Valley. It is clearly botrytised (the “noble rot” of Sauternes) with 80 g/L sugar. IT IS DELICIOUS with the complex layers of orchard fruits that botrytis brings! VERY LIMITED!

Three fantastic wines for tasting this Saturday!
Nik Weis St.-Urbans-Hof Riesling Wiltinger Alte Reben, Mosel, 2020 ($19.99) - Wine Spectator: 92 $23 “This light-bodied, intensely flavored white reveals aromas of sweet woodruff, lime and green apple that give way to white peach and brown spices. Charming and balanced, with a long aftertaste. Drink now through 2027. 1,400 cases made, 700 cases imported. Wine Advocate (Stephan Reinhardt) 90 “The 2020 Wiltinger Alte Reben opens pure and fresh with flinty slate and bright fruit aromas on the nose. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a refined, well-balanced, sustainably structured and salty Riesling with a good, intense finish. 11% alcohol. Drink 2021-2035”.
Trisaetum Pinot Noir Coast Range Estate, Yamhill-Willamette-Oregon, 2017 ($34.99) - With lighter color, less overt fruit, and more acidity than most American Pinots, it has very pretty Pinot Noir character and will continue to evolve. Wine Spectator: 90 $49 “Offers precision and structure, featuring medium-weight cherry and blueberry flavors steeped with orange peel and savory bramble notes. Finishes with fine-grained tannins. Best 2021 thru 2025. 580 cases made. Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks): 91 “Medium ruby-purple color and classic aromas of woodsmoke, pipe to***co, cola, red currant, cranberries, dusty earth, and peppercorn. Medium-bodied, fresh, and grainy, it has great fruit concentration and a long finish. Drink 2020-24”
Cortonesi Rosso di Montalcino “La Mannella,” 2019 ($22.99) - Wine Advocate (Monica Larner): 92 $30 “The Cortonesi 2019 Rosso di Montalcino La Mannella is vibrant and fresh with plenty of tart cherry, red berry, and cranberry to keep the palate refreshed. The wine is clean and streamlined but not thin or short by any means. That special 2019 vintage richness and concentration is played forward to good effect in this well-priced bottle. I look forward to tasting the upcoming Brunellos from this vintage. Drink 2022-26”

Beekman Wines & Liquors

A bottle of wine, beer, or liquor is more than a bottle. If you listen closely, you can hear their glorious tales of epic journeys and history passed down from generation to generation. At Beekman Wines & Liquors, we sat by the fire and heard those stories for ourselves to pass down to you. When you pick up from our fine selection of wine hailing from the French hills or beer perfected in breweries, you carry with you a story just waiting to be opened. Pour yourself a glass and hear what your bottle has to say for yourself.
