This page represents the independent truck stop known as Fred's Fuel 'n Food #2 in Gilman, Illinois (Exit 283 on I-57). We are an American owned & operated truck stop dedicated to friendly customer service, clean facilities and integrity of fuel. Integrity of fuel means you can buy at our truck stop either B11 or ULSD diesel with full confidence that it won't gel or otherwise hurt your truck. And,
year 'round, we carefully monitor our fuel to make sure it does not take on any water (rest assured we have never had water issues with fuel at our site). We want all truckers to look forward to stopping at Fred's. When you tank up at Fred's you get free coffee or soda (and feel free to fill up your thermos!) and you can also get a free shower. We feature a truckers' lounge, video poker and slot machines, and Krispy Krunchy Chicken (opening approx. We have the best in and out access around for truck parking and also have a truck wash on site. One new project that is just rolling out involves D.o.T. physicals. We are commencing an alliance with Riverside Healthcare to provide physicals for truckers coming through (cost is $40, but if you tank up we'll give you a $5 fuel credit for that day). Instead of taking a day off to get a D.o.T. physical, we are introducing the convenience of a D.o.T. physical when taking a break from the road. Right now, anyone who needs a D.o.T. physical just needs to show up during daytime hours before 5:00 pm. It does help if you call ahead 815.265.9902, but even if you just show up our team is glad to help. Initially the D.o.T. physicals will be done about a mile away and our staff will transport any driver to that facility. Within 60 days one of our motel rooms will also be used by Riverside Medical to provide the physicals on premises and, at that point, we're aiming to provide them as late as 11:00 pm.
