Cockerham is a 3rd generation, locally owned and operated, business owning and operating 8 convenience stores (Galax, Hillsville, & Fancy Gap, VA), Hampton Inn and the Pizza Inn/TCBY in Hillsville, VA plus provides a full line of propane and petroleum products to residential and commercial customers in Virginia and North Carolina.

Primary Job Duties:
• Provides fast and efficient service
• Operate electronic cash register by ringing transactions, collecting money or processing credit card transactions
• Uses other equipment to process transactions such as EBT purchases and lottery/lotto sales
• Check ID's for age restricted items (Ci******es, lottery/lotto, etc.)
• Stocking shelves and cooler while rotating product
• Removes all damages and out of code merchandise from the shelves
• Clean all areas, using proper cleaning procedures and materials, including (but not limited to) counter tops, microwaves, shelves, floors, windows, cooler doors, food service equipment, restrooms, and parking lots
• Check in vendors as needed following company guidelines
• Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned to accommodate store operational needs

Requirements and Skills:
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds with or without assistance
• Experience in retail environment/food service preferred
• Reliable and accountable
• Flexibility with scheduling
• Must be able to work second shift

Cockerham Tire & Auto Parts located at 603 East Stuart Drive in Galax, VA is looking for Automotive Mechanic.

Summary:
The position is responsible for investigating, diagnosing problems, and a range of other duties and responsibilities that can differ from day to day depending on the jobs that are assigned. This includes working on different types of vehicles and making repairs accordingly. Their duties include communicating with parts/service personnel to find out vehicle owners concerns, carrying out routine maintenance procedures and replacing parts to ensure vehicles are in the best condition and operates safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
• Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency, accuracy, and in accordance with factory standards.
• Communicate with parts/service personnel to clarify requested repairs plus communicate any defects or problems.
• Assessing vehicles and/or equipment to accurately diagnose and repair issues.
• Provide routine inspections of vehicles and inform parts/service personnel of any issues to be brought to the vehicle owner’s attention.
• Keep accurate log of all work performed.
• Maintain and clean garage, equipment, and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and operational condition at all times.

Qualification/Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to speak, read, understand, and write the English language.
• Previous auto mechanic experience preferred.
• Hold a valid state vehicle inspection license.
• ASE or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting vehicles for faults and repairs.
• Practical knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment.
• Sound problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.
• Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
• Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
